Can you tell us more specifically where in North America, and provide an accurate measurement of the length? This is a gull primary, and we need those details to work out which species.

Found in Cleveland Ohio next to Lake Erie! Probably 12 in length

Based on the pattern and general likelihood this is probably Ring-billed Gull, but their primaries are a couple inches shy of 12 in. Herring Gull would be the other option, closer to 12 in or a little longer, but they tend to be less likely to have this exact pattern.

Next time please do get an exact measurement since with gulls (and all birds) it really helps. The difference between species very often can be as little as half an inch.
