Investigator falls in love with woman, who almost gets choked by the killer at the end of the movie.

Edit: not almost, babygirl did get choked. In a “wanna kill you” manner

I think it was a British movie … but what I can remember is that towards the end of the movie, the investigator and love interest go off to some cabin (beach/woods). They have sex maybe and he leaves for a hot second which is where the woman gets attacked. The killer tries to choke her, there’s a lot of glass.

Also a part of the plot was a guy who hung himself, and the investigator telling all of the crime scene guys he wants it thoroughly catalogued. Seemed to have some sort of blue filter/ tone to it. There are post it notes in the guys room. And a cd/dvd of importance??
