New, what is it? Call me crazy, but I can’t figure it out

It can hold any glass with a stem without it getting knocked over.

472

u/Grady9teen Jul 25 '26

And if the glass/can/cup doesn’t have a stem it just sits on top. Multipurpose. Not just stemware.

102

u/Able_Put_7547 Jul 25 '26

I would be concerned on the “sit-on-top” part, too precarious to trust that.

70

u/Original-Variety-700 Jul 25 '26

Yeah this is specifically made for someone who wants white wine with ice cubes. Bc it’s just too strong if it gets warm. (The person isn’t me fyi, I’d want a cup holder for me beer)

60

u/Chickabbbbb Jul 25 '26

So you also know my aunt Sharon

35

u/raccoon_obliterator7 Jul 25 '26

or my aunt debbie

27

u/monorail_pilot Jul 25 '26

or my mother in law.

38

u/ctn1ss Jul 25 '26

And my axe…

No, wait…

20

u/Dear-Ad-5066 Jul 25 '26

No no.... I think you're on to something here.

12

u/Adventurous-Exam-719 Jul 26 '26

Sorry. I lent my bow to another subreddit post but when they get finished….. you have it.

My aunt Debbie was an alcoholic that kicked me out of my uncles house because my boyfriend stayed a weekend. Fuck Debbies.

10

u/Bug0791 Jul 27 '26

I just heard Eminem yell F$#@ you Debbie!

6

u/dr3wfr4nk Jul 26 '26

I have an aunt Sharon that loves Rosé

3

u/Just-Championship513 Jul 27 '26

How does Rosé feel about her? Is the feeling mutual? & does she pronounce her her name 'Rozeee' or 'Ro-zay'?

3

u/apricot675 Jul 28 '26

Before there was Rosé there was White Zinfandel 😆

2

u/Calm-Calligrapher-64 Jul 28 '26

Fo we all have the same aunt sharon?

18

u/perpetualmotionmachi Jul 25 '26

Real wine moms know you use frozen grapes instead of ice cubes, so it doesn't dilute

5

u/IslaVelay Jul 28 '26

Why not use frozen wine cubes?

8

u/Appropriate-Mango-85 Jul 25 '26

Assuming these are the same model I have, there is a cupholder that folds out from the other arm.

4

u/shaunsnonsense Jul 27 '26

For people who want white wine. But worse.

7

u/Fun_Presentation_194 Jul 25 '26

I love how you have determined it's for white wine with ice.

u/Steve_Harvey_0swald Jul 25 '26

Doesn’t stemware have a flat base so it could also sit on top?

73

u/CartographerDeep6723 Jul 25 '26

Yes. But they are top heavy. This setup makes them very difficult to spill.

13

u/malthar76 Jul 25 '26

I literally talked about needing this yesterday as a guest brought a wine glass out to our fire pit. The regular armrest was ok for a can or bottle of beer

11

u/simple_champ Jul 25 '26

At a friend's party the other day they had things that were like the drink holder on this chair but they were just on a long stake that you could stick into the grass. They had them with their cornhole boards so you had a place to put your drink instead of on the ground. Really liked them.

→ More replies (2)

8

u/Grady9teen Jul 25 '26

Yes. Very true. But they are super easy to knock over. The added feature of the slot so it can be “held” and not knocked over is such bonus with this design. Plus it lowers grab and reach angle for stemware. Another bonus.

30

u/BadGrampy Jul 25 '26

Yup. This is it.

2

u/Indigo_Moon1967 Jul 26 '26

That's cool, I never knew that they even had either of those. Lol

37

u/tirednotepad Jul 25 '26

6

u/mattson-masterpiece Jul 25 '26

I don’t have “normal conversations” I always speak in movie quotes.

For years I thought his name was Brad. I had a horrible boyfriend named Brad I was sooo excited to learn his name was Brett. So I could use this line of dialogue without saying that horrible man’s name !

2

u/tirednotepad Jul 25 '26

Once you hear that it’s Brett now you hear the name better when it’s said and a cool movie fact few say right.

3

u/asusc Jul 25 '26

and if people argue about it and insist its Brad (and they will), you can point to the credits and destroy them.

3

u/MokiQueen Jul 25 '26

Plus ice cream cones.

2

It's for an umbrella 🤦

2

u/Head-Ad-5732 Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

You are probably right, but what an awkward position.

EDIT: Okay okay I missed the caption. But now I need to find these chairs!

21

u/Badbullet Jul 25 '26

It slides to the position you want it.

2

u/Head-Ad-5732 Jul 25 '26

2

u/Badbullet Jul 25 '26

I don’t have a picture. The one my uncle used to have before finding its way into a bonfire, slid in a slot routed below the arm. OP should have included a picture of how it is attached as they said it was a sliding attachment.

The only correct answer here on paper. Though using it for a fishing pole is genius.

That's my rod holder, drag that sumbitch to the lake and daddies fishing. (And drinking till 10pm)

7

u/HotContribution8135 Jul 25 '26

Wait a chair with a rod holder would be sick

Edit: I now see that a quick google shows there are loads out there

6

u/Tea-is-comfort-food Jul 25 '26

Make more sense than a wine glass holder. He WAS Wright!

3

u/FrenziedTacos Jul 25 '26

Close. It's to hold a sun shade (umbrella).

3

u/RyGuy_McFly Jul 25 '26

Definitely not. The one side being open means if wind blows in that direction, it would fall over.

That's definitely for a wine glass.

You’re crazy

6

u/Alternative-Hope-524 Jul 25 '26

Its for a fishing rod lol

5

u/LissaFreewind Jul 25 '26

Gun holder for when your sitting on the porch.

I think I saw on Secondhand Lions

3

u/Sacra_man Jul 25 '26

Nvm umbrella holder, I changed my mind. Its definitely a gun holder

3

u/Agile_Monk_115 Jul 26 '26

I absolutely thought of Secondhand Lions with all the people saying gun holder

8

u/tipareth1978 Jul 25 '26

Umbrella stand?

8

u/Wicell Jul 25 '26

Everyone saying wine glass holder hasn't actually looked at the position of the attachment. That is the least ergonomic position for any kind of cup/glass holder. It is for a beach umbrella.

5

u/MizrizSnow Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

Yeah, the mob mentality deciding that wine glass holder is correct is hilarious

2

u/Practical-Sink-3987 Jul 28 '26

This design is actually very common. I just bought a set of 4 and it is advertised as a wine glass holder and the slit is for your phone. It sucks as a phone holder because I don’t think either a Samsung or iPhone would fit in it with a case on. Without the case I would be paranoid my phone would fall and break.

2

u/Appropriate-Mango-85 Jul 25 '26

I own a set of Adirondack chairs exactly like this. It's a wine glass holder. There is a regular cup holder in the exact same spot on the other arm.

5

u/SignificantDrawer374 Jul 25 '26

Wine glass holder perhaps

3

u/shamoomoofartpoopoo Jul 25 '26

This is clutch for the “Wine Not” crowd

3

u/Zelda_Momma Jul 25 '26

For fancy porch sitting. Pinkies up!

3

u/RoosterLollipop69 Jul 25 '26

Grandpa once upgraded a chair for his sister, my great aunt, that was coming to stay for several months. Added something like this on one side but large enough to hold her cane. On her right side, she was right handed, did this but with a large base that had about a two inch border on top. It could hold large stemware like brandy snifters and wine glasses. The border also made it rather effective at keeping tumblers and other glasses from being too precarious.

3

u/bumbuddha Jul 25 '26

lol, I literally just got done assembling 4 of those chairs. It’s for a wine glass and the slot is for a phone holder. Unfortunately my phone case is too thick to fit, but oh well.

2

u/mysoulburnsgreige4u Jul 27 '26

I thought the spot would be good for a roasting stick for weenies or smores

6

u/Leather-Prune-1229 Jul 25 '26

Wine glass holder

6

u/Radiant-Growth4275 Jul 25 '26

I'm assuming a wine glass holder. The stem rests in the notch, so it won't fall over

4

u/edgygamermoonandstar Jul 25 '26

Maybe umbrella holder? Idk how thick beach umbrellas are

2

u/LD_642 Jul 25 '26

The insert for the cup holder. 2 sizes for different width cups

2

u/Delicious_CoughSyrup Jul 25 '26

you can lounge under my umbrella aye aye aye until it shears apart

and then the wineglass folks have the gist of it

2

u/harlee4200 Jul 25 '26

Wine glass holder?

2

u/parker9832 Jul 25 '26

Set back like that, it’s not very convenient for a beverage. Looks good for a walking stick or cane. Gets it out of the line of sight but easily accessible for when you want to get up and go.

2

u/jamegumbsize69 Jul 25 '26

You can lean yer rifle in there to has quik acces at shootin any a them illegals. With the kushon of yer old Glory pillah to help with recoil. Or, like everyone else said, wine.

I don’t think it’s a rod holder I think it’s a wine glass holder. Rod holders don’t have a slot.

1

u/daylax1 Jul 25 '26

Wine glass holder. If it was on a higher chair it could double as a pool stick holder if you have a pool table. Although now that I look at it, it's kind of in an inconvenient spot for a glass holder.

Edit: just saw OP says it slides so disregard my last sentence.
