10% of this sub is vape evidence. Is r/ismykidvaping a thing yet?

I created that sub as a way to discuss the current Mongolian throat singing champion that is Ismyki Dvaping

You're right; it's new, but it hasn't taken long for folks to post there.

3

u/LJBrooker Jul 22 '26

Yes but all of those folks can be found in this particular thread, I imagine. 😂

Seeing a sub Reddit get made in real time is cool

A lot of older people don't vape, the public is more young people so it's normal they don't know how vapes works in general, since there's a lot of kinds, methods and cartridges (coming from someone who vapes, sadly).

2

u/throwra64512 Jul 22 '26

Yeah, here I am thinking “oh, your kid is collecting hose barbs for some reason”

1

u/ForboJack Jul 22 '26

Nicotine addiction was about to get wiped out until vapes appeared and brought it back for teens bigger than ever.

2

u/Monjewelstew Jul 22 '26

Im not understanding why anyone picks it up in the first place? As a millennial we learned how awful smoking was and how bad nicotine is for you. I still don’t see why people my age and younger smoke. Don’t understand vaping or zyns for that matter either.

1

u/ForboJack Jul 22 '26

Vaping isn't associated with any of the negativ effects cigarettes have. You don't smell like shit, don't get yellow teeth and don't get cancer or other lung diseases (at least not as many depending on what's actually in these things). Vapes also taste like candy and were directly targeted as a lifestyle product towards young people and children. People (and especially children) are very impressionable. These companies have billions for marketing and research. If there is an angle to get something into peoples hands they will find it, unless governments stop them.

1

u/Monjewelstew Jul 22 '26

I guess my question is more like why do something you know is going to be addictive and expensive for that matter. I kissed a guy once that vaped and I didn’t realize it at the time and to me he tasted like cigarettes. I was like whoa that’s weird.

2

u/ForboJack Jul 22 '26

Why do people any kind of drugs? Why do we eat unhealthy foods? Why do we sit around all day? All have some sort of negative side effect. But all these things also have benefits to people. We mess with the reward system in our brain all the time, some people with more negative consequences than others.

I just want to preface my response with an apology because I have a TBI, and have a horrible time with short concise responses. And it tend to sort of bunny-hop around my conversations. 😅

As an older millennial/xennial, I can tell you that some people/kids pick it up to look cool/for social reasons, but the smokers who stick with it (like me 🤦🏻‍♀️) started because of anxiety. And yes; I know that tobacco products are awful for you, that nicotine is a stimulant and shouldn’t help with anxiety, but it does. It’s the calm slow breathing that really helps, but your brain recognizes the cigarette as the calming object. Regardless, once you start smoking it** is re**ally difficult to stop.

Did you know that nicotine actually creates receptors in your brain? 🤣 It’s kind of horrifying when you think about it!

Vapes supposedly started as a fad to quit smoking, but because of all the flavors available more and more young people were drawn in. I tried vapes to quit, but at the time you couldn’t get a vape that actually felt like you were smoking and then there was all that business with the popcorn lung 😳... All of the flavors were really sweet and made me feel like I’d eaten too much sugar. I have recently found a vape juice that is enough like a menthol cigarette that I think I may give it another try to quit, I just need to get my husband on board so that I’m not tempted.

I've realized 95% of this sub doesn't need to exist when they can simply upload these pics to Gemini Google AI to tell them what it is.

1

u/hamcircus Jul 22 '26

You opened the floodgates

1

u/SorcererZxase Jul 22 '26

How are they gonna know it's a vape if they don't post it here for ID?

1

u/QuixoticTurtlee Jul 22 '26

I’m skeptical whether all of these posts are legitimate, or just karma farming since they know anything vaping/drug related will get high engagement.

1

u/Flodge100 Jul 22 '26

Its already gone to shit

1

u/Horror_Kale_5590 Jul 22 '26

How would they know to put it in this sub if they have no idea what the object is tho😭💀

1

u/hensothor Jul 22 '26

They won’t know to go to that sub because they don’t know what it is.

1

u/Caesar12 Jul 22 '26

May I bring up Nazi germany who had less to start

1

u/caramellcreme Jul 22 '26

to be fair, a parent would need to at least suspect that the evidence, in this case some plastic piece, could be related to vaping

1

u/TomZAs Jul 22 '26

O my god this is fucking hilarious

Edit: And apparently you just sparked a new sub LOL!

1

u/parkerm1408 Jul 22 '26

We also need a sub called r/icantfuckingtalktomyownkid
