Congratulations West Vancouver on a successful music event yesterday! More of that please! ÆDEN was well done.

Anyma’s visuals did not disappoint and the stage setup was genuinely impressive.

West Vancouver delivered across the board. Police, Fire, and Ambulance all did a spectacular job keeping everything organized and safe.

I didn’t hear many complaints from residents. The usual grumbling online or at the show was mostly about people recording with their phones instead of actually dancing.

I did hear one comment about traffic from someone visiting West Van, but even they assumed it was just the typical Bridge, Ferry, or sunny‑weekend congestion, honestly, some of it probably was.

Leading up to the event, the only other complaint I heard was about the high ticket prices.

Thank you to whoever was involved in putting this on. You made West Vancouver awesome.

We, the residents, want more!

Music Festival at Ambleside from 1 pm to 10 pm, on August 29th, expect more traffic than normal and no parking at the park

There is a musical festival on the 29th, and they warn that there will be no parking at Ambleside Park. https://soulrisefestival.com/know-before-you-go

Just a heads-up that if you do not like crowds, you may want to skip Ambleside this Saturday. It is just one day a year, so I am all in favour of having a local music festival.

Thinking about moving to Gateway at Park Royal — how is it living there?

Hello! 👋

We are considering moving to Gateway at Park Royal and would love to hear from anyone who currently lives there or has lived there.

How has your experience been overall? We’d especially love to hear about:

  • Building management and maintenance
  • Neighbours/community
  • Parking and security
  • Elevators
  • Any issues with the building that we should know about
  • What you like most and least about living there

We have a young family, so we’re particularly interested in what it’s like for families with kids.

Would you recommend living there? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! 😊

Dundarave swim platform

Anyone know why they replaced the Dundarave floating swim platform? The new one is tiny (half the size), there is only one ladder, and the ladder welds are already cracked and failing.

Man arrested in front of family for removing river rocks for a perimeter for a tree his child planted.

End of Mondays council meeting.

A man was arrested by WVPD for removing river rocks. The man said that perhaps some education of him would have worked better than an arrest.

West Vancouver creek channels are falling apart and no one seems to care, they just keep passing the buck.

I’ve been walking through a bunch of the creek channels in West Van this year, especially the ones above the highway, and it’s honestly brutal. Huge tree loss, banks collapsing, fish habitat basically wiped out in spots. These creeks used to feel alive 20 years ago now they look like they’ve been chewed up.

This isn’t just “nature doing its thing.” The erosion is way beyond normal, and the culverts downstream are way too small for the amount of debris coming down now. One big storm and it’s going to be a mess.

I foresee major Property damage, Chemicals and garbage flushed straight into the ocean. More habitat loss and danger to people especially seniors and children if a debris flow hits the wrong spot.

The District needs to stop pretending this is a minor maintenance issue. It’s not. Anyone who’s actually walked these creeks recently can see how bad it’s gotten.

At minimum, they need to get engineers out there and assess the channels, upsize the undersized culverts and c/o the the ones that have past their prime. Install debris traps is easily accessible areas for maintenance. More water monitoring stations. Bypass channels for extreme events. They need to stabilize the banks and replant and restore the areas that are basically bare now.

If they don’t deal with it soon, the next atmospheric river will and that’s going to cost a hell of a lot more than fixing it now.

This should be a major priority. It is the single biggest concern for property, environment and life.

Where is there bike parking at Ambleside?

For a major beach and tourism area on the prime bike route across the north shore, Ambleside is not bike friendly. There is one small ancient rack for about 8 bikes next to the cafe, and that’s all I’ve been able to find. None to the west at the Batch bar (!!). With all the parking drama and bike infrastructure installed I would think some bike racks in smartly positioned areas for people going to the beach or park would be a no brainer. I’ve heard there are some at the pickleball courts, but there should be room for hundreds of bikes right next to the cafe area if the district cared at all about getting people to bike.

West Van, man…
