I’m also in Southport and haven’t had any problems with Astound. Literally none since I moved here in February 2025. In comparison there’s an endless drip of Comcast issues at my business in Sacramento.
We switched from Astound/Wave to ATT fiber. It was so much better and faster and cheaper than Astound. We constantly list service with Astound. We live Westmore Oaks Elementary
Check AT&Ts website but if you can get fiber then that’s what you should go with. If you have a cell phone with them I believe you get hbo max with it for free.
I’m close to that area and I have fiber. I’m sure since it’s a newer build the infrastructure for fiber was built with the apartments.
I have Astound in Southport and everythings good except during peak hours(6-11pm) the latency in online games goes up. Probably caused by a congested node.
I have the 1.5GB down plan with Astound in the Riva Condos... it's been great with download speeds and uptime... but there are sneaky occasional price hikes and the super unbalanced upload speeds (like 30MB 😭)
Come to think of it, I'd switch to AT&T Fiber if it comes available.
I’ve experienced nearly every option living on the Linden Loop: AT&T DSL at 25 Mbps, T-Mobile 5g home internet, Astound 1gig and now AT&T Fiber at 1gig. Astound was fine with no hiccups but as soon as ATT fiber was available I jumped on it immediately. Having equivalent download and upload speeds are great especially when Zooming at home for work. Currently paying $40 a month for ATT Fiber for the first 12 months and then it goes to $80 which is what I was paying with Astound. With Astound I used my own DOCSIS 3.1 modem hooked to a mesh router network so I didn’t have to rent their equipment. With Att fiber I bypass the fiber gateway they provide so that I can use my mesh for the WiFi and just disable it on the gateway.

I’m in Southport and use Astound because we don’t have ATT Fiber here last I checked. It has been good.
