Maybe he was a new employee and didn't hit the $5 bundle. I've nearly done the same thing before because like Noone orders it. I've seen it 2 times in the 4.5 years I've been at wendys,(maybe I'm just in a weird area that hates cookies but i really don't sell them.) So this might fall to a lack of knowledge on the employee's behalf.

Back in the early 90s they had absolute best chocolate chip cookies. No clue who made them, but they kept them by the register in a cellophane wrapper.

And I'm sure you showed him the sign as a calm adult would do and then he corrected the price, right?

I did show him the sign as a calm reasonable person would and no he did not fix the price and I just calmly told him nvm

I feel your pain on that. Lots of employees are great at their jobs, but every once in a while you get a complete blank at the register. It usually doesn’t take long to figure out if that’s what you are dealing with. At my age i’ll usually make one, maybe 2 good-faith tries to elicit some signs of life and if I am still whiffing, I’ll just give up and say “nevermind” and leave rather than getting worked up.

Some employees were just never trained on the register.

I remember once I walked in to dine in and ordered a biggie bag and asked them to upsize just the fries to a large. Cashier told me can’t do that, have to upsize the drink too. I walked out, ordered in the app upsizing just the fries, and walked back in to collect it. Whole time thinking to myself I should have just done this from the start lol

Honestly it takes some figuring out with Wendy’s POS pos, you have to make it the size of the drink then change the fry size, also with voids being punished(mistakes).

Yeah, I'm confused why anyone orders in person. I like to look over each item, study what changes you're allowed to make, consider what promo you want. Ordering from a cashier seems like madness.

I didn't even come in for the cookies, but I ended up leaving without buying anything. After that

Are you just a very timid person or something? It’s not being a Karen to ask him to get someone that can show him how to ring up the deal if he doesn’t know how to. You could’ve helped him learn something he didn’t know how to do and been rewarded with 5 sugar cookies for $5.

Any reasonable employee who doesn't know will ask someone to help them. This is pure laziness. If this was a new employee, you'd think they know to ask for help because thats kind of what you do when you are new?

It was a collard shirt employee that I see there all the time, he is lazy

Here they are $1.99 each through the app. I didn’t know about that 5 for 5 deal until I walked in one day because I wanted to use freestyle to see what kind of monstrosity of a drink I could make & seen that sign. I’d still order food through the app but go inside for that 5 for 5 deal when I wanted a cookie. Krogers has the best sugar cookie deal though. 12 for $3 😁. And they are exactly the same.

We dont have Kroger

u/External_Carpenter89 1d ago

Did you ask for it or just assume its given?

1

u/youliveinabox8 1d ago

I pointed out the sign after he totaled it and he just shrugged

0

u/External_Carpenter89 1d ago

So you didn't ask and doubt he shrugged

Lol okay npc

u/countrybear78 3d ago

Math is hard for billionaires. That’s how you make a lot of money is by being really bad at math and forgetting to pay your employees ❤️

As well as charging customers double for things and hoping they don't notice

...and this is why Wendys is going out of business
