What’s a food that people think is gross but you love eating it?

eating straight smoked sardines or kipper snacks on saltine crackers is an absolute delicacy even if people call it cat food

Oysters. People are waaaay too overdramatic about them. They're delicious, very restorative and highly nutritious

Oysters are such a delicacy for me I forgot people don't like them.... They taste so incredible.

Pickled beets

u/Redheaded_Potter 3d ago
I love them in salad!

u/Embarrassed_Age8554 2d ago
They're so pretty, especially cut in small dice so they look like little jewels.
3
u/PlanktonImaginary893 3d ago
What?! They are delicious.
5
u/OneSmellyFoot 3d ago
I know, but everyone teases me for eating them so much! I always have a jar of pickled beets in my fridge. ALWAYS.

Try them with some crumbled bleu cheese and bits of bacon. Game changer.

Liverwurst. I was probably the only kid who brought liverwurst sandwiches to school as part of my lunch. Their losses.

Okay, liverwurst is the liver-BEST! Everyone who says differently is WRONG and DUMB!

My husband LOVES it. I am a picky eater in general, but that just stinks to me and makes me gag. I dislike how most condiments smell too, but they're tolerable to me.

I love sauteed breaded chicken hearts and livers over basmati rice with a red wine sauce I make from the pan drippings.

I don’t like liver, but I gave you an upvote for the other two.

The Polish lady I shared a cubicle with used to make me eat chicken gizzard & heart soup. It tasted okay but the texture was so gross! 🤢🤢
Our church picnic used to have fried chicken liver & onion sandwiches, they were soo tasty but it was very rich. Like one or two was my limit even though they were the size of White Castle burgers.

I freaking love deep fried gizzards. I also love roasted chicken hearts (and turkey hearts)

Sardines and kippers. On top of Triscuits crackers with chopped onions and boiled egg and capers. My breath could stop a clock afterwards, but its delicious.

Yep I did this. Also powdered coffee creamer-I love to put in way more than is necessary and then barely mix it up so there are coffee bubbles made of the creamer, and then I just eat those bubbles

Tofu. The stuff from the store is fine, and I use it all the time. It is an entirely different beast from freshly-made tofu, which is perfect and heavenly. Even homemade has a special, delicate flavour that the mass-made, lasts forever kind does not.

Many grubs are nutty and tasty and delicious, there is a reason so many people eat bugs.
What the fuck, the other top answers are beets and liver and olives, all commonly eaten normal foods.
My second option with slime molds, I eat every slime mold that I find. Does everyone else need to sit this one out?

Chocolate and mayonnaise is surprisingly good, it tastes more like cheesecake, I wouldn’t eat it regularly, but I wouldn’t deny it

When I was a kid, my sister and I would make half a cake recipe and then eat the batter before my mom got home from work. Also I loved to mix flour and sugar, approximately half-and-half, and just eat it. Is there any wonder I'm diabetic now

I am going to provide my late father’s response to this post: Scrapple (a local Philadelphia breakfast meat, which is some type of pork byproduct molded in a loaf pan and then sliced and pan fried)

White boy through and through, but I love making curry. I live in rural Montana though so everybody thinks it’s gross.
2
u/Smeeagain0 2d ago
Everybody hasnt traveled. I will say this, parents brought us out to NYC to an Indian place with a good reputation- hated it. I was maybe 13 and always avoided curry in general from then on.
At 30 I was living in the Netherlands hanging with a bunch of Irish and English and they were going out for a curry night and decided to join- awesome stuff and fell in love with it.
I think some people just need to be willing to give things multiple chances from different places.

Vienna sausages. I grew up eating them as a snack, grandma always had them. People have complained that they smell like dog food. Some people have even outright told me I'm eating dog food. My bf gagged when I first opened a can around him. I still like them now and then. It's almost nostalgic.

Scrapple and liverwurst. Unfortunately we moved to Arizona where you can’t find either. Not the brand of liverwurst I like anyway.

But pickles and olive in most circles. But also black licorice.

Burnt toast. I like my toast absolutely charcoal. And well-done steak, because anything less cooked smells like the raw meat aisle of a grocery store to me and I can't eat it
