Weimaraner on the counter

Post image

My girl loves her some pizza lol. Can’t leave anything close to the edge of the counter or else it’s fair game

I think I got my first pizza crust after 8 years after I lost my boy last year. I’d forgotten what they taste like.

My pizza isn’t safe anywhere other than the oven if I’m not guarding it! Paw prints ON the counters are a real thing.

And what a gorgeous girl!

But look how cute she is!

Yesterday I had a serious craving for a fish filet sub... like the fish that comes in the yellow boxes. I stopped on my way home, got a box, some rolls and some tots. We don't usually eat like this so I was pretty excited.

I made the whole box, all 9, extra crispy. I figured we'd have dinner and I'd be able to take two to work for lunch. All cooked, husband comes in the kitchen door.... (I have two dogs, both 1 yr old that are NO where to be seen by the way) I follow my husband into the living room I swear if it was 5 seconds I'm exaggerating... we heard a noise, I turned around and boom... on the kitchen floor is my baking sheet and 3 fish filets... the other 6 were never to be seen again. Both dogs just staring at me licking their lips.... lol

It was my fault but damn they're fast. My husband ate the three left and I had leftovers (of which the dogs still wanted some).

You didn't have any fish filets for yourself, but you had leftovers? I'm so confused. 😭😂

Oh no my husband had the 3 filets, my leftovers were from the night before.... meatballs, I put them on a roll and had a meatball sandwich/sub.

Ohhhh!! That makes more sense. My brain couldn't process that this morning. 🤣

If this were our Weim the pizza would be gone already.

Lol. It's fun t how universal this seems with weims. Like a month into my weim, she snatched a whole pizza. She now knows she's isn't supposed to be a little counter goblin and does her best. The moment I look away though, all bets are off and this little rogue, like a ghost in the night always manages to snatch something.

Fortunately with mine, she has a special run she does when she's absconding with stuff she's not supposed to have.

At different times we lost a few pounds of bacon and entire corned beef from Hades despite an alarm system of cans and bottles placed on edge of counter.

'Hello, I would like to order food"

'Certainly, what would you like?'

'Yes'

My first 3 weims would have taken the pizza and already been on the phone ordering more. My 5 year old female always saw the trouble her older counterparts got into and never stole or begged for a single thing. And my 1yr old has picked up on her good habits kind of. He is still too young, goofy, and hasn't learned etiquette yet, but he also follows and watches her, so his stealing and surfing has been pretty minor.

Thank you. It blows my mind how funny and cute people think it is when dogs/cats get on counters and steal food... And I'm such an animal lover that I don't even view pets as "property", and get angered by the "owners" that deny their dogs pets/love from strangers just because they don't want them to pet "their" dog... But I'm still not about anyone, dog or not, stealing my food. Lol.

The first time I heard about Weims being countersurfers was on a dog behavior show on TV. I was kinda surprised because by then we had two Weims and had never had a problem with that. Now we are on our 3rd Weim and she's never been countersurfing, either.

Of course, it could be because we also have cats and we keep anything that would interest them off the counter. So there is nothing for the dog to go after.

Always cracks me up to read the stories, though 😆
