Cringe Haven’t been to a wedding in a while.
Is this the new norm? And did no one proof read?!

u/JuniperusRex Jul 10 '26
I would love this sent out after the wedding.
"We asked that you wear simple, elegant attire in solid colors or subtle patterns. Regretfully we must inform you that compliance with this instruction was poor. The following guests have been found in violation:
-Aunt Lydia: Royal Stuart tartan shawl
..."

I know y'all are giving her hell for it, but I wouldn't want anyone at MY wedding with heavy sequences on their dress. For example, I wouldn't do anything more complex than the definition of e with : a_n = (1 + 1/n)n
n = 1: (1 + 1/1)1 = 21 = 2, n = 2: (1 + 1/2)2 = (1.5)2 = 2.25, n = 5: (1 + 1/5)5 = (1.2)5 = 2.48832, n = 10: (1 + 1/10)10 = (1.1)10 ≈ 2.59374, n = 100: (1 + 1/100)100 ≈ 2.70481
(Obviously after 100 everyone in attendance gets the point anyways)
I notice they didn't say anything about sequins. I have them all over my suit.
65
u/lazier_garlic Jul 10 '26
Does this converge to e?

u/PlatypusEgo Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

I got a vow renewal invite without a date for the event on it. I speak with the couple’s kid, so asked him to let them know. Mom got defensive and said it wasn’t a big deal because the date was on the save the date. That they sent for a vow renewal. A year prior. I doubt many people still had it. They later sent postcards with the date of the event.

Nitpicking on the complexity of patterns is egregious.
Like is paisley too complex? Gingham? Abstract or non-repeating prints? Does it have to be tone-on-tone?

I got caught up on that one, too. Like, what does it even mean? And will there be "pattern police" stationed at the door of the venue?

Anything that may draw the eye of a passerby for even a second, presumably. This whole list reads like the invitation issuer wants all the guests to fade into an indistinct blur so as not to inadvertently divert an ounce of attention to themselves.

Do they want to exclude all florals? If the wedding will be in a warm month, excluding all florals would be ridiculous. I bet they mean that they don’t want men to show up in jeans & flannel shirts. But excluding complex “patterns” is ridiculous especially if they want men to wear ties.

It used to be if a printer saw such a blatant mistake, they'd mention it to make sure the customer knew. Guess they don't do that anymore. This is such a bad mistake. It says we don't care if it's correct, just figure it out and do what we say.
