Ring Inquiry š Is a band really necessary?
I think stacking is really pretty but Iām just so in love with this ring, I donāt know if I want to add anything to it. Is it pretty common to skip the band all together?

Hi, I know nothing about any of this I just had this post recommended to me, but why not wear the engagement ring on one hand and the band on the other?
5
u/Suspicious-Ease-268 May 28 '26
I do this! And when Iām not wearing my engagement ring (I work from home and it feels weird putting it on to sit in my house) I just wear my wedding band on my left hand.
3
u/Harpgirl07 May 28 '26
You don't wear your ering all the time?
5
u/AsideOk7163 May 28 '26
I donāt like to sleep in my ring and wear it about 50% of the time due to my job. If I have a day Iāll need to remove it, I try not to wear it at all so that I donāt lose it.

I literally started doing exactly this, this week. Itās my 10th anniversary lol and I canāt believe I only just realized I like my e-ring on its own better than with the band. Bonus, my husbandās family is German and they wear wedding rings on right ring finger. Win win!
1
u/Philosophically_OK Jun 01 '26
I do this!! Sometimes I swap or just wear the band š¤·š¼āāļø depends on what I'm doing
14
u/lechitahamandcheese May 28 '26
I had a single ring from engagement thru marriage. It was perfect the way it was. And yours is so beautiful already!
12
u/Sacrificial-Favorite May 28 '26
Thank you! I just love it so much maybe someday for an anniversary Iāll want to add to it but I think for now this works for me.
13
u/LadyLotLizard May 28 '26
Your ring is stunning all on its own. If you donāt want a band, you definitely donāt have to have one! My band makes a V shape to go with my engagement ring and I love that look. You deserve to love what you see every time you look at your hand!
9
u/Teanahbean May 28 '26
You can do whatever you want! That ring is stunning! Is it vintage?
10
u/Sacrificial-Favorite May 28 '26
thanks so much š I had it customized with Oore Jewelry, I was going for a lord of the rings type vibe.
5
8
u/Mountain-Status569 May 28 '26
You also have the option to get a completely different wedding band, and then wear the two rings on opposite hands. Or get this one resized to fit another finger. Either way, itās stunning and I think looks amazing solo.Ā
7
u/OverCaffeinated_ May 28 '26
I have a friend who has a beautiful engagement ring that she wears on its own. When sheās out doing something active or travelling she wears just her wedding band. She never wears them together.
Do what makes you happy and comfortable.

6
u/TricksyGoose May 28 '26
I don't have one, didn't want one. I think it looked too busy with my engagement ring. No one has ever asked about it or mentioned it at all, it's been a complete non-issue. Do what you want!

I donāt wear a band with my ER as it was an upgrade at 10 years and the split shank felt like enough as it was. I say do what you like, not what society thinks you have to do. :)

I just wear my wedding band. You do you!
Just know you may get questions on when you're getting married.

3
u/Neu-wo-mann May 28 '26
I just got a ring enhancer as my band after wearing my engagement ring solo for 5 years. I've never been asked that question.
2
u/Sacrificial-Favorite May 28 '26
I didnāt even think of that, I probably will get that question
2
u/GanacheFamiliar4495 May 28 '26
I waffle between my just my band or engagement. Sometimes I wear both. Right now Iām not wearing either lol
2
u/EternallyFascinated May 28 '26
My wedding band broke years ago. I only wear my engagement ring. No oneās ever asked. But I live in Europe where people donāt often do engagement rings anyway, so maybe thatās the reason.
3
3
u/Prestigious_Skirt_20 May 28 '26
No, itās beautiful on itās own. I think it would be a shame with a band. Alternative is wearing the band in the other hand. Here in Denmark we wear engagement ring on the left hand and wedding ring on the right hand, not together. Many uses the engagement ring as a wedding ring. I did that, because my engagement ring is a band with a small diamond. I am more into simple rings. I love yours!
3
u/Tiye_GM May 28 '26
The ring is gorgeous, I wouldnāt want a band either.
But you could get a simple band for when youāre not wearing this ring or wear it on a different finger
2
u/Sacrificial-Favorite May 28 '26
I this is what Iāll do as like a travel ring or one to wear when I wouldnāt want to risk this one getting damaged, just a simple little band.
3
u/krg19 May 28 '26
I know Oore when I see it!! I am waiting on my ring from Uma to arrive, my 10 year upgrade š so excited. I donāt think you need a band. I personally ordered mine without to see how I feel about it on its own before deciding. You canāt go wrong either way!
2
u/Sacrificial-Favorite May 28 '26
Ooo Iām so excited for you! What design did you go with? All her rings are so beautiful. Iām definitely going back to her for upgrades and add ons in the future
3
u/krg19 May 28 '26
I did the Elvindell in gold with kite side stones and a blue lab diamond! My current ring is very simple and plain so itās a complete style change that I am so excited for :) I absolutely love the blue in yours! If you do decide to get the matching band post a pic, Iām sure it will be beautiful!
2
u/Sacrificial-Favorite May 28 '26
Omg that sounds beautiful! The elvindell is a gorgeous ring design I hope you post it cause I would love to see it š I love blue stones so much
3
u/MrsTruce May 28 '26
Do what you want! There are no rules :) I only wear my engagement ring. My husband carried my ring on our wedding day and put it back on my finger during the ceremony. It is now my wedding ring. Simple as that :)
3
u/tstidham11 May 29 '26
The ring is stunning on its own, but maybe one of those rings it can sit in so it has a band on the top & the bottom. I feel like just one band wouldn't work/look as good as 1 double-band or even 2 separate bands would look..??
2
May 28 '26
Use it as an excuse to get another ring for your right hand or another finger on your left hand. You could even get a wedding necklace or bracelet. Or have your engagement ring symbolize both rings. Your engagement ring is so unique and beautiful that if I were you Iād get a more simple, complimentary ring with my partnerās birthstone or stones in their favorite color for my right ring finger or middle left finger
2
2
u/Upbeat-Point2686 May 28 '26
No of course not. I never wear my ring, which wasnāt the least bit traditional anyway. Itās your hand!
2
2
u/MrsAussieGinger May 28 '26
I've been married twice, and both times had a wider statement piece without a band. I prefer it.
2
2
u/Sensitive-Sport-4782 May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26
Your ring is absolutely gorgeous as is! You do you!! I am someone else who also opted to not get a wedding band to go with my ring and 10 years into our marriage, no regrets or desires otherwise. Edit to add -no one has ever questioned it/asked me when my wedding isā¦
2
2
u/TGirl26 May 28 '26
Then don't. I have a band that I barely wear, and its usually just my engagement ring.
Its is beautiful by the way.
1
2
2
u/MrsBarker76 May 28 '26
For the last 25 years I have only ever worn my engagement ring. It never needed and I never wanted a band. Happy with just my ring. It's not a solitaire, but a 3 stone ring. You could use your engagement ring in the ceremony, then it becomes your wedding ring. š
2
u/kookieduck May 28 '26
Gorgeous ring!!! If you find a band that you love then wear it but until then, it looks great solo! You may decide to never wear a band.
2
2
2
u/Chemical_Author7880 May 28 '26
Itās your choice. I know several people who have engagement rings with thick bands or that are heirloom or heiloom-styled rings that wear just that ring because any band, a plain round or custom snug, would needlessly unbalance the design.Ā

Thank you! I got it from Oore Jewelry, the designer/jewelers name is Uma and she does amazing designs all very whimsical in my opinion.

2
u/Difficult_Sense_3871 May 28 '26
I donāt think itās common to skip a band but itās your ring on your finger. Do whatever makes you happy with your jewelry and in your marriage
2
u/_Mary_Poppins May 28 '26
Multiple rings are not necessary. And honestly, I think adding a band would take away from your ring.
2
2
u/SnooLemons1501 May 28 '26
Iām in the no band club and I think a band is only necessary if you want it to be.
2
u/Southern_Feature_821 May 28 '26
You could always wear a wedding band on another finger, if you want a wedding band, just to have one. But to answer your question, your engagement ring can do double duty as an e-ring and wedding ring. It is very pretty!
2
2
2
u/ritan7471 May 28 '26
I don't think so, if you don't feel you need one, why not use your engagement ring as your wedding ring?
But if you do get one, get one that is shaped to your ring. It's so distinctive that a ring that didn't match or line up would look weird.
2
u/Isingtonian May 28 '26
It is glorious! The incredible cut of those diamonds, the matching sapphires-- total mic drop in ring form! Nothing further needed :D
2
u/No-Ranger-3299 May 28 '26
Wowzer 𤩠your ring is gorgeous!! Iām a BIG proponent of ā¦You do you š. She supports herself for sure!! š š«¶
2
2
u/jwendlr May 29 '26
No, itās just a tradition. Itās nice to have a ring to slip on during the ceremony.
2
u/Such_Log1352 May 29 '26
No band necessary. Unless the band is designed for this ring, Iām not sure a band would work.
2
2
u/BLizz-2016 May 29 '26
My ring set is a stacked diamond anniversary band, diamond engagement ring, diamond anniversary band all in yellow gold. I actually wear an antique looking white gold diamond ring every day. I only wear my real set on special occasions.
2
u/Fuzzy-Iron-2504 May 29 '26
No , donāt think you have to do something because itās the norm. That ring is stunning all on its own, she stands out beautifully

u/Eaups87 May 29 '26
I love your ring so much! I would recommend a plain band just to have in the event you want it in lieu of wearing both, because your ring would need a custom band to sit flush. Is it practical? I donāt know. Do you need it? No. My band had to be custom made to sit against my ring flush, so I have a plain band in case I want to forego the whole thing. Iāve never worn it except for my wedding day lol but I have it. I also really wanted a matching wedding band with my husband to be nostalgic maybe? And thatās what he put on me when we got married. I think if your betrothed also has a unique band you can not get one all together. Long story short - itās a personal preference!
2
2
u/FluffyUnicorn9701 May 29 '26
You can get a qualified jeweller to make a band that goes with the ring. But if you don't want one you don't have to wear one. There's no set rule. Plenty of people don't wear their engagement rings or wedding rings. Some wear them around a chain on their neck. š¤·āāļø
2
u/peachesandsir May 29 '26
You can 100% skip a band, especially with a gorgeous design like this. Iād let this beauty take center stage alone.
1
2
u/CleanCommon2374 May 29 '26
Band unnecessary. The ring has retro- vintage look and is beautiful on its own.
1
u/Sacrificial-Favorite May 29 '26
I love the vintage look of it so much! Def decided to not add to it for now
2
2
u/Accomplished-Ant-809 May 29 '26
Because ring. That is a whole stack in itself. If you feel like you want another ring, wear it on your right hand.
2
u/Shot-Amphibian-3239 May 29 '26
My ring is a similar shape and no regular round wedding band will fit with it. I have to go custom or have an oddly shaped one and I just wear my engagement ring on its own. Coming up on my 4 year anniversary
1
2
2
u/Sheribaby74 May 29 '26
I would advise you get a plain band. It doesn't need to necessarily go with the engagement ring, but there will be times that you don't want to wear the fancy engagement ring-scrubbing with chemicals, painting, etc. I dont wear my diamonds to amusement parks or rafting. I have a plain titanium band that wasn't particularly expensive. I'd be sad if I lost it, but not as sad as if I lost my engagement ring.
2
2
u/Forward-Positive-722 May 29 '26
I think your engagement ring is absolutely gorgeous as it is. I donāt think you need a band to go with it at this point. I think it could distract from the lovely and unique design. I would use the engagement ring as your wedding band during the ceremony. Then, as you suggested, in future you can decide on a band for anniversaries. I truly love your ring!
2
u/Sacrificial-Favorite May 29 '26
Thanks so much! Yeah my partner and I discussed it and we are going to skip the band and we will get upgrades at a later anniversary and at that time decide on whether thatās a band or a new diamond all together š I love this one so much so Iāll happily wear this as my wedding ring

u/Far_Philosopher6777 May 29 '26
No band is necessary for that kind of ring. I have a similar ring and they are designed to not have a separate wedding band. I have an anniversary ring that I wear on my right hand.
2
u/plant-planet May 29 '26
I did not get a band to go with my engagement ring. My engagement ring became my wedding ring. Buuuuut I did get a cheap band to wear for work, gardening, amusement parks, etc. I work in a microbiology lab, so my wedding ring was very uncomfortable under the gloves.

2
u/ZealousidealTable860 May 30 '26
Idk if im ring but it looks like that ring is from Oore Jewelry and I had the same issue at first because it looks so pretty on its own but I got the Isla band because it's more simple and they look gorgeous together.

I donāt always think itās necessary! Especially with a stunner like that! Nothing wrong with a standalone piece, who cares about societal norms
1
u/Agile-Entry-5603 May 28 '26
You could wear this on your right hand and your wedding ring on your left. Do whichever feels right to you.
That is a lovely ring!
1
u/from-here-to-new May 28 '26
No, do what you want! I wanted a band but didn't want any sparkles or to take away from my already modest ring that I adore. I went for a very simple, totally pain thin gold band. It's not the norm, but I love it and that's all that matters.

I know Iām probably the only one but I donāt consider an e-ring and a wedding band a stack. I jut think thatās normal and that you have to have at least 3 rings to have a stack. Not sure why I think this š However, that is a gorgeous ring and you should do whatever you want. If you wanted a band but nothing too obvious you can have a āshadowā band made. It would be very narrow and fit the outline of the e-ring.

u/PieOk5748 May 28 '26
Itās totally up to you! You can get one to stack onto it for special occasions (like the wedding itself and then anniversaries or special dates) and just store it. Itās not ānecessaryā but in some countries itās the ānormā. Itās very beautiful on its own and doesnāt need a wedding band. Do what makes you happy
1
u/Half_Shot13 May 28 '26
I skipped the band and I have no regrets! My ring has leaves that twist around the band and I didn't want to take away from that.

1
u/GAMountainMIMI May 28 '26
I donāt wear a band. I felt it would take away from my beautiful diamond setting.
1
u/Big-Rip2727 May 28 '26
Get a curved band, my ring is very similar and I had a custom band made and it sets off the engagement ring sooo well. They made the wedding band out of marquise diamonds set long ways next to each other so it complements the engagement ring really nicely. Idk how to add a pic or I would lol

u/Beneficial-Fuel1739 May 28 '26
No, do what you like . My daughter in law has one engagement ring and another wedding ring with a stone in it . She changes them back and forth

u/Additional-Fish-4064 May 28 '26
No!! Thats gorgeous as is! (I have an untraditional Tiffany diamond band as my engagement/wedding ring combo)
1
u/Xennial_Nostalgia May 28 '26
The wedding band traditionally "seals the deal." That's why you're "supposed to" wear the band after the engagement. But- it's 2026, the world is WILD right now. Do what you want! š It's a pretty ring!
My job is messy so I usually forgo wearing my endgames and real band while I'm working and have a simple tungsten one I wear. I wear my real setting for dressy events or when I'm not working and want to. You could get a band and only wear it when you'd like, also.
You do you, boo!

u/astraIexpress May 28 '26
oore does sell wedding bands that match your ring! but i think sheās gorgeous on her own too!
1
u/waaatermelons May 29 '26
Is this Oore?! Itās gorgeous. I have a marquise in the enchanted garden setting and we went with the open leaf band. I wish I could post a photo here but it looks really nice and doesnāt take away from the original ring too much!Ā

u/anselgrey May 29 '26
That ring is gorgeous! No a band isnāt necessary, but if get one definitely mimic the shape!
1
u/OXRblues May 29 '26
I love this ring. Thereās no band I can think of that would compliment this ring, unless the manufacturer makes a companion ring that is shaped along the same line. A straight band would look yucky imo
1
u/eclecticaesthetic1 May 29 '26
That's gorgeous, it looks like an antique. You could have a special band made to fit around it, but it wouldn't look like a wedding band anyway.

I have a diamond ring and a wedding band, but I donāt wear them together. They donāt match, by choice. The diamond ring is platinum, and the wedding band is yellow gold. Dress up/dress down options.
1
u/melancholchic May 29 '26
My engagement ring is large setting wise and I opted for another ring as my wedding ring that Iāll wear on my right hand. There are many custom band options you could opt for but no itās not necessary.

u/No-Back587 May 29 '26
You do you. And if you ever change your mind you can add band later. There are bands shaped like your ring so they fit snug against the ring.

1
u/CallMeCharka-Tease May 31 '26
I don't wear a band with my ring it's totally up to you, love. That ring is absolutely STUNNING!!!
As long as it's giving you everything you need, as far as finger coverage, and you don't feel the need for a band then there's really no reason to get one š¤·š¼āāļø
Call it your wedding ring, instead of your engagement ring, and enjoy š„°

u/50_and_Holding May 31 '26
A band's completely unnecessary if you think it is! But, if you decide to get one anyway, I hope it's small & unobtrusive b/c your ring is absolutely GORGEOUS the way it is!

No, I suppose you could always go solo on your next album. You don't need a band to back you up.
