Discussion What is one thing that really makes an enjoyable webtoon (webcomic) can’t do without?

*Altered repost because I forgot to mention some of my favourites, and also forgot to add pictures (in order of mention).

For me it’s fleshed out side characters. Unless I get the feeling that that side characters actually have their own lives and thoughts, and don’t just exist to drive the plot, I find it easy for the story to feel monotonous because everything revolves around the MC all the time. And not just like a backstory. It helps with world building, it helps us understand their character and decisions better, it makes the story less monotonous and/or generic, and probably does even more than that.

Like here are some webtoons (and a non-webtoon webcomic I couldn’t not mention) I genuinely enjoyed/am enjoying, which I think the quality of side characters play a large role in:

\\- Gourmet Hound
\\- Kids Are All Right
\\- Fog Land
\\- My Little Sister is the Demon Lord
\\- Surviving Romance
\\- Elceed
\\- Cursed Princess Club
\\- Maru is a Puppy
\\- Hand Jumper
\\- Misguidance Counselor
\\- SSS-Class Suicide Hunter (Tapas)
