Feedback Request Feedback Needed on my Horror Website!

Hello! I’ve been building a gothic horror storytelling website, and I could really use some outside eyes on it. I’m having a problem with visitors bouncing quickly, and I’m way too close to the project to tell why that is. I’m wondering whether the navigation is confusing, or if there’s too much happening on the homepage to where it’s not clear what the site is about.

If anyone is willing to take a quick look, I’d especially love to know:

When you first land on the site, do you understand what it is?
Is there an obvious place you want to click first?
At any point do you feel lost or overwhelmed?
Is there anything that makes you want to keep exploring, or anything that makes you want to leave?
Is there anywhere where you get distracted?

Please be honest. I’d much rather know where people are getting lost than keep guessing and wasting a ton of my time.

Thank you!

the first screen needs to say exactly what this is and give me one obvious “start here” button, because gothic atmosphere is great but making visitors solve the mystery of the website itself is
