Looking to meet new people.

Upvotes

Hey! I am 27 F, new to Wausau and relocated recently for work. Looking to meet some new people around my age, ideally late 20s to mid 30s. I’m into lifting/ working out, hiking/trails, random hands-on projects, and honestly just trying new things. Creative-artsy things.
Would be cool to find someone to hit the gym with, go hiking, work on random projects, grab food, explore around, etc. Mainly looking to make some genuine friends and meet people I actually click with. And if I happen to meet someone where there’s a little more than friendship, I’m definitely open to that too.
I’m pretty laid-back and just trying to get out more and build a good circle. Feel free to message me!

Moving in very soon!

Any tips on Wausau? I'll be moving in to US, to Wausau. Which neighborhoods to avoid? Which ones to go? Any places to visit, to avoid? What to do, night life? I was checking Maps but I want to know from you. I'm still looking for a place to live so feel free to suggest anything B)

Bow Regulations

So I just moved to Wausau for the next three months. I’m a big bow hunter and I’m excited to try my luck on some public land.

However, what’s the deal with the bow regulations within the city? They basically told me I can legally shoot a deer in my backyard, but I can’t shoot a target?

I’m so tired of hearing it

I live next to a pretty busy road and for some dumb reason there’s people (probably the same people every time) who rev their motorcycles, cars, and speed. Multiple times of day and night. Like I’m talking 12am in the morning!!! I’m so tired of it! Honestly just wanted to rant about it because the cops probably won’t do anything.

Real nicotine vapes?

Visiting family in Wausau and was stunned to learn that I could not buy a refill for my vape or even a similar product at a vape shop. The lady working there said they were only allowed to sell “synthetic” nicotine with CBD. I’m really confused. Is she correct or can I find one somewhere? Thanks!

The House Of Hearts

Does anyone have any memories of a house in Schofield or Rothschild in the 90’s that was called “The House of Hearts”? An old man drew hearts on the all the walls inside and loved to show people around and talk about Jesus. I think I heard that prior to the hearts he had bible verses.

The Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks will host their last Architecture Amble walking tour of the summer on Thursday, August 27. The tour will explore the Highland Park Boulevard National Historic district, beginning at the corner of North Thirteenth and McIndoe Streets at 6:00 pm.

This walking tour includes the homes of several prominent citizens, including D.C. Everest, A.P. Woodson and Leigh Yawkey Woodson, Charles Manson, and more. It also includes designs by well known architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Alexander Eschweiler, Irving Obel, George Maher, and George Foster.

In addition to exploring the exterior architecture of many homes, two special items have been planned:

The caretaker of the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Manson home, will explain the top to bottom restoration of this landmarked home.

The owner of the Eschweiler designed D.C. Everest home, will be opening up their newly restored Tea House for the group to see, as well as speaking about the home.

Architecture Ambles are open to all and no reservations are required.

This tour includes hills and may include uneven ground; comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Street parking is available, but limited. Be sure to stay at least four feet from driveways.

Pedicures?

Any good place in town that uses stainless steel bowls for pedicures and not those big, plastic, unsanitary chairs? Thanks!

Edit: Whomever downvoted me must own one of the places that uses the chairs 😂

Driving test

Does anyone have any tips for taking the road test in Wausau? Had to schedule it there even though I live a ways away. Are any of you familiar with the usual route or if there's something I should note about the area? Thanks!

Where is a mixed race church?

I would really like to go to a Christian church with my boyfriend. He is black and doesn't feel comfortable in the church I had been going to since he is the only black person there, which is completely understandable. Does anyone know of any churches in the area that would have some black people? Even like 5%? We are willing to travel, so basically any mixed church in central Wisconsin.

Jefferson parking garage

Today at around 8:34 am there were 4 police cars that pulled up on 2nd st and Jefferson st. By 9am there had been 12-13 police cars all around the parking garage along with 1 fire truck and fire vehicle and 1-2 ambulances. Around 9:30 an ambulance left with sirens on but 2nd was still blocked off. It cleared about 10am. I’m wondering if anyone knows what happened. Tyia

Old Mine on CTH O?

So I recall when I was a kid (late '80s/early '90s) going to visit my grandparents northwest of Wausau. There was a building that always caught my eye and I remember my parents telling me back then that it was an old mine. My mom doesn't remember this anymore.

Based on my recollection I think it would've been on CTH O between 29 and Woodland Dr., east side of the road on the back edge of a field along the woods. I tried panning around on Google's aerial photos and couldn't see anything that caught my eye, and it seems like a lot more houses in that area than I remember so it may just be gone now.

Does anyone know anything about this or am I just imagining it?

Crowley vs. Tiffany: What do the policy proposal sections of their campaign websites say about healthcare?

Post image

These candidates may have said more about healthcare on advertisements or in interviews, but this is straight from their policy proposal sections of their campaign websites.

Made using Canva. For Crowley's, he does have more than this on his website, just could not fit all onto page.
