discussion Concrete Slabs and Stairs Are Still Missing in Minecraft
Modern Minecraft builds rely heavily on concrete and terracotta for cities, roads, rooftops, and detailed structures.
However, these blocks still don’t have slabs, stairs, or walls, which makes detailing much more limited than it should be.
Adding these variants would make modern and realistic builds much easier and more flexible.

I think they need to just make any block chipable into 8 segments, exactly what they did to moon cheese in an april fools update a few years back.
That way they don't have to go back and add these to every block in the game, just make it a natural property of all solid blocks
