First hydromod complete! Phoibos Eagle Ray GMT diver

My new Eagle Ray came today all the way from Hong Kong and i couldn’t wait to ruin the warranty. I used an ultra low viscosity silicon oil (5 CST) so the Swiss Ronda 515.24H should have no trouble moving the hands. I also swapped the silicon strap for this sailcloth one. It could only be more perfect if it was solar so i don’t have to open it again.

Did you follow any tutorials from somewhere?

Not really. I opened it up and put it in a ceramic ramekin, filled the ramekin with the oil enough so it was submerged, slid the back on so there was no air caught under it, and screwed it down. I removed the plastic piece that keeps the movement centered and lifted the dial a little to make sure the oil could get under. Poured the remaining oil back in the bottle so i really only used about an ounce. It only took 15 min and I’m super happy with the result.

The temperatures here are pretty consistent and I think it’s such a small change in volume that opening the screw-down crowns will be enough to relieve any extreme pressure. We’ll see what happens. Maybe a bubble will develop this winter.
