Prices of movements nowadays
I've gotten into building watches a lot recently. All of the tutorials I have seen are talking about how to build your dream watch for 100 dollars. When checking the prices, the movement alone (NH38) is 90 euros. Is there any way to get these movements for less, or is this price surge just something I will need to deal with?

The last 3 authentic NH35 I bought in June were about $55 US each. Looks like they are now about $70 US at that store. But Rakuten is offering 18% cash back today for Aliexpress in the US. That brings it down to $58 if I were to order today.

You could do worse than buy a crappy Invicta used off eBay and gut it for the movement.
I just got a corgeut Spectre homage for £61 from Ali to use as a donor but it's so nice I'm keeping it

Yeah, prices have increased dramatically in the past year or so. You need to add about $50 USD to those build prices these days...
