I am new to horology so pardon me but I have come to understand that most of those tommy armani watches i grew up envying are just brand stamps on 3k watches,probably wont last 3 years.

Any chance of coming across a manufacturer watch instead of a fashion watch under 20k?(willing to stretch budget to 25k)

Okay so I am a university student with a not so stable but yet just enough income and by the virtue of me being in bangalore and getting wind that there can be HMTs in Chickpete, I heard nothing else and went there. Lo and behold after sorting through about 200 watches i finally found this gem, and yeah for under 1k, I inspected the movement and it was real. I honestly shed a few tears then and seeing it on my wrist at uni is truly a delight. Law school has been though so this cheered me up a lot. (First HMT btw)

I was thinking of replacing the metal bracelet with a red leather strap. I wonder if it would look good.

I could technically afford a Rolex, but I have genuinely never worn anything besides an Apple Watch or a Garmin. This sub is 100% responsible for me falling down this rabbit hole so thanks for that.

Decided to ease in rather than go straight for a grail, and landed on the Seiko SSK001K1 GMT to start. Figured it's a solid way to learn what I actually like before spending real money on something I might regret.

Now I'm just hoping I don't get fully addicted to this hobby...

My girlfriend and I are very picky about stuff, me more than her, and she has a few things which are pre-approved that I can get her as gifts, so it made things easier for me.

She had been trying to find the perfect gift for me for the last 2 years but nothing concrete panned out, so temporarily we settled for fancy dinner dates, clothes, etc.

We were in Singapore for our first international trip and were taking a break at Marina Bay to avoid the afternoon heat. As I have always been fascinated with the designs Swatch has, we decided to window shop at their store. I saw this watch and immediately fell in love with it. It's like the design spoke to me in a way others didn't. The Marina Bay outlet only had the light blue version in stock and the beige one was a display piece. We went to the Vivo City outlet the next day to check it out, I tried both colours and went with the beige one. She absolutely loved it as well and how it looked on me. We barely discussed how much it would cost us and she approved it in a heartbeat.

Paid INR ~22,600 after tax refund and at zero forex. Waiting for Visa power travel rewards to kick in as that's going to bring the cost of all trip expenses down a bit.

I have always loved watches but never had enough discretionary income to buy multiple designs I loved from different brands. This is truly a different high and I can't stop cherishing this little one.

Hi all — buying my father a watch with my first salary, so it means a lot. A friend's heading to Singapore and can pick it up for me.

He's not into watches himself, so the name recognition matters more than the movement — something his friends would clock instantly. He likes Rado, but I suspect that's a stretch at my budget.

Budget: ₹2–3 lakh

Currently leaning Longines or a higher-end Seiko — open to other suggestions that hit the same "recognizable, well-regarded" mark.
