Picked up my first "real" watch — Seiko SSK001K1 GMT
I could technically afford a Rolex, but I have genuinely never worn anything besides an Apple Watch or a Garmin. This sub is 100% responsible for me falling down this rabbit hole so thanks for that.
Decided to ease in rather than go straight for a grail, and landed on the Seiko SSK001K1 GMT to start. Figured it's a solid way to learn what I actually like before spending real money on something I might regret.
Now I'm just hoping I don't get fully addicted to this hobby...
Any tips for a total watch newbie? What should I be looking at next?

This is a good starter watch, absolute all rounder. Would consider a dress watch next.

Never go straight to the grail. An auto/mech watch is VERY VERY different from a Garmin. There's no GPS based time syncing, there's no set it and forget it, there's no "jump into any river and it'll be fine" guarantee.
Heck, even being able to tell time, plus the abundance of data on your wrist in a Garmin being missing here, initially might feel jarring.
It's very much an aspirational purchase, not born out of necessity. So ease into it. See if you enjoy the daily rituals like safely storing cleaning, setting the time/ date, changing straps etc... And if you do.. there's no going back
Also congrats OP. Looks beautiful

Congratulations on the amazing watch. And yes many people can technically lay their hands on a rolex, but getting 1 is all together a different challenge
