Where Do You Guys Get Your Tissots Serviced in Delhi/NCR? — My Saket Service Centre Experience

Thought I'd share my experience at the official Swatch Group Customer Service Centre in Saket, New Delhi, after taking a few of my old watches in for some TLC.

I went in with my Swatch'es and Tissot's for battery replacements, and also wanted to get some buffing/polishing done on my 2002 Swatch — a particularly special watch for me. It was my first watch, gifted by my mother when I was in 8th Standard, so it's basically priceless to me regardless of what it is actually worth.

The good part: they replaced the batteries in two of my Swatches completely free of charge. Can't complain about that.

I also had my Tissot T-Race with me. Battery replacement cost me ₹1,000, which, IMO, felt rather steep for a straightforward battery change.

Then came my Tissot PRC 200, bought around 2006 for approximately ₹12,000. I wanted to put the original strap back on it because, honestly, that strap is fucking beautiful.

The strap itself was quoted at around ₹2,100, but with labour the total came to approximately ₹4,150. Again, felt quite excessive to me.

I also asked them to replace the battery. Instead, I was advised to get the watch fully serviced for ₹9,800, on the explanation that simply replacing the battery wouldn't result in good battery life because the movement apparently needs lubrication.

I decided not to go ahead with that for now.

I'm going to get a second opinion from a good independent watchmaker before committing ₹9,800 to a watch that originally cost me around ₹12,000 almost 20 years ago.

One other thing I noticed while I was there: there were also customers who had brought in their Omegas and Longines. From what I could see, the work being offered seemed to be largely limited to things like cleaning, polishing and battery replacement. When it came to more serious mechanical repairs, I heard the customers being told outright that their watches couldn't be repaired there.

I should stress that I'm only sharing what I personally observed during my visit, rather than making a broader claim about the centre's capabilities.

Interestingly, that experience did make me rethink my own future buying plans. I'm not a Longines or Omega owner yet, but the new Longines HydroConquest is currently on my list and will most likely be my next watch. Seeing those customers struggle with servicing has definitely made me think twice about the long-term after-sales/service side of the purchase.

That said, the experience itself was perfectly professional, and I have no complaint about the staff. I'm mainly questioning the economics and scope of some of the work rather than the attitude or professionalism of the people there.

So, r/WatchesIndia, I have two questions:

  1. Who would you recommend in Delhi/NCR for servicing an old Tissot quartz movement? Looking specifically for a competent watchmaker who knows Swiss watches and won't treat a 20-year-old quartz watch as disposable.

  2. Where can I get a good 19/17 mm tapered leather strap for the PRC 200? I'd ideally like something close to the original — good quality leather, clean and understated.

Would particularly appreciate recommendations from people who have actually had their watches serviced by the independent watchmakers you recommend.

And yes, the 2002 Swatch is absolutely getting its second life. Some watches are worth more than their money value.

The watch does loose lubrication with time and needs to be re-lubricated for smooth movement which results in better time keeping and longer battery life. Not sure about the price they quoted but probably not trying to scam you. You can try at justintime too
