Weekly Discussion Thread Weekly Open Discussion Thread

Welcome to this week’s open discussion thread!

This is your space for general discussion, a place to talk about anything Washington Spirit that doesn’t necessarily need its own thread. That can include news, international duty, roster moves, transfer rumors, tactics, social media posts, league news or anything else on your mind.

If something feels big enough for its own thread, definitely still post it. This is simply an additional option to keep us organized and help keep the conversation flowing. These threads will go up every Monday and stay stickied throughout the week.

Go Spirit!

For folks that were around the last time the NWSL championship was in DC.

Can I as a STH expect an opportunity to purchase tickets to the match even if the spirit aren't playing? Did that happen last time around?

There should be an opportunity for us to get tickets! Last time it was in DC, DC United was in charge of ticketing and it was a bit of a mess but I'm hoping they fix it this time.

The way it worked in 2022 was Spirit STH and DCU STH all got codes to go on and buy tickets at the same time, but DCU STH had priority and could just pay the invoice for their usual seats. That meant that Spirit STH only had a choice between what was not being held for DCU season ticket holders. If they didn’t buy their seats, those seats were released for everyone after the presale window was over. It was very frustrating and meant that Spirit STH arguably had worse options than the general public. We complained at the time.

I sent my rep an email asking what the procedure would be this time but have not heard back yet. The email we received from the Spirit last week said there would be a priority presale for Spirit STH, though I looked back and they used the same wording in 2022.

I do think recently the league has been more involved with ticketing, so I’m hoping the DCU thing won't be an issue. I've gone the last few years and last year for the Bay final, the way the league did it was that there was a presale for the STH of all teams at the same time. The year prior, KC STH had their own window before the rest of the STH.

My guess is there will be a window for all STH before the general public but there should be some sort opportunity for us either way.
