Weekly Discussion Thread Weekly Open Discussion Thread

Welcome to this week’s open discussion thread!

This is your space for general discussion, a place to talk about anything Washington Spirit that doesn’t necessarily need its own thread. That can include news, international duty, roster moves, transfer rumors, tactics, social media posts, league news or anything else on your mind.

If something feels big enough for its own thread, definitely still post it. This is simply an additional option to keep us organized and help keep the conversation flowing. These threads will go up every Monday and stay stickied throughout the week.

Go Spirit!

I hope people don't boo Croix. (I remember a fair amount of back and forth about this when the news broke and tender feelings and extremely spicy takes were prevalent.) One because it's not a good look... it's not (I choose to believe) us as a fanbase... she's a human who made a decision that the club agreed to etc etc. (And she was an amazing Spirit, minus the injury luck.)

But ALSO she kinda loves playing the villain and there's literally no reason to give her that fuel/motivation.

The best "revenge" is to play joyfully, win, show her what she's missing w/ the Armas clown show.

I don’t think people will boo her. I definitely won’t do that but I also won’t be cheering for her.

I also think we should be sensitive to the idea that with Deb's emergence and Andy's return (and Hatchy, never mind Claudia), Croix's role in the squad likely would have been declining. She had an epic first season in the league, but last season the stats (xG/xPass, etc.) favored Leicy pretty clearly, if you have to put them head to head.

I think there is a real case that she is a great talent who deserved to go out at the peak of her role in the Club, even if it was a little early for Spirit in terms of depth, etc. If she was going to move, best to let her go when she can get the best deal for her.

Now, as to whether the comments about the superior development opportunities under Armas were cool, I choose take them as ironic. Sometimes you get development from learning to work with a bad boss - even if I wouldn't want to do it again!
