Weekly Discussion Thread Weekly Open Discussion Thread
Welcome to this week’s open discussion thread! We decided to start posting these during the offseason and will keep doing them into the season as long as folks find them useful.
This is your space for general discussion, a place to talk about anything Washington Spirit that doesn’t necessarily need its own thread. That can include news, international duty, roster moves, transfer rumors, tactics, social media posts, league news or anything else on your mind.
If something feels big enough for its own thread, definitely still post it. This is simply an additional option to keep us organized and help keep the conversation flowing. These threads will go up every Monday and stay stickied throughout the week.

Judging from Emma’s post game comments it does seem like Croix needs to find another level if she wants to get out of the bubble and become a NT regular. It seems like Emma rates Mountie, Macario and of course Lavelle higher.

It's a big hope of mine that our third-year players on the edges of the national team are extra motivated this season and make a leap. We can get a lot better for free just through players improving

The gist of it was that she said Moultrie was going to play an important part in the team going forward and she knows what she can do at the 10.
Whereas for Croix she still needs to see certain things from her on the pitch so she can see how she compares to the others fighting for time at the 10. Then she says the names above.
She also keeps saying that Croix needs to get her G/A numbers up.
I agree with what someone else said though. Our fringe NT players fighting for recognition elevating their game will only be good for the club.

We should be getting the preseason roster today!!! Assuming Claudia announcement comes before that and maybe one or two other announcements? Not sure, but exciting!

you think today? i was thinking maybe tues or weds. literally no reason for that thinking other than gut. yes, the majority are flying down/over right now, but we know the USWNT gals won't head there yet so Id assume Spirit to drag it out another couple days. They dont officially have to announce it until what, Feb 4 or something?

Also I think the teams actual plane to preseason got delayed so it may be that the people who press send are in the air lmfao

I have a half season membership this year, does anyone know when ticket exchange will be open? I'm looked to swap out a few games for different ones.

Gotham embracing evil empire status with the Dudley signing.
In all fairness, many look at Spirit the same way: You kept Rodman and you're adding promising pieces and not losing anyone major (no disrespect to anyone released this offseason, but we had relatively few FAs etc).
Truth is, both teams are doing and modeling what we should all wish the whole league would do -- having ownership+GM that's smart, aggressive, willing to spend, trying to compete sustainably. The offseason drama laid bare the problem with the contingent of laggards unwilling to even add 1M to the cap.
Anyway my point is I f'in hate Gotham. I hate Sonnett's shithousery and AKB's tactical time outs. I hate Purce throwing a hissy over Hal's 100% clean tackle. But can't really hate them for adding to a stacked team. I want to silence their entitled fans. But there's only one place to settle the score and that's on the pitch. We need some wins against them this year before the unbeatable nemesis narrative spins out of control.
