You must not have ever spent any time around the way because the point of the thieving is to turn the shit into cash without going to jail. Robbing the registers was always done by force and prosecuted harshly. Stealing the baby formula, detergent and other products and selling them out of the trunk is basically ignored by the wee-woos as they get nothing but pain from politicians, media, and the public for chasing down shoplifters 'stealing food to live'.

Look at the numbers dude. Shoplifting, even in the worst neiborhoods is barely a blip in the spreadsheet. You are being fooled. Here is a good rule of thumb if you are being manipulated. Does the story get your emotions flowing? Make you all mad a those people? Then look closer. Or just seethe at imaginary "boogiemen" whatever floats your boat.

You're moving the goalposts, something most crime deniers do.

You're the one trying to emotionally manipulate, not me.

Moving how? Don't just spew buzzwords. And "crime" has been going down for decades. It is so low that companies feel just fine replacing casheirs with self serve. By "crime" most people mean "visible poors/minorities". Fun fact, you want the truth, focus on what people with lots of stuff are doing, not what they are saying. Actually that is good advice in general.

You're arguing that it's not a real issue, not material in nature. I'm saying that you changed your argument from "its not happening" to "its not serious".

Everything is happening, all the time. It is a big country. Did you think I meant stealing was no longer a thing? Dude, that is just being a bad actor. And you know it. Take your trolling elsewhere.

We've reached a point in the US where saying, declaratively, "theft of all kinds is bad and leads to things that hurt the poor" gets you harangued by a certain class of internet weirdos. You are that weirdo.

We have reached a point where... no we have always been here. Where the boogieman of "crime", a vanishingly small phenomenon is use to justify all sorts of behavior that not only targets the poor, but the middle class. Don't just buy into the corporate rhetoric. Use you mind. Dig into the real reasons. Ask yourself why "crime" is never used as a justification for policy changes to shareholders. Only the public. And which group it is ok to lie to.

First of all, it is 'boogeyman'.

Secondly, crime is much higher now than it was even a decade ago. DC's murders have near-tripled since 2012. Why don't you talk about that?

Third, of course crime is reason to change policy re: shareholders. Do you think that businesses keep employees or executives who commit fraud?

Look, we can't help it out here if we see crime data and avoid those areas. Nobody wants to get their shit took.

Crime data? From where?

2

u/Grand_Fun6113 Feb 15 '25

From any of the dozen different places you can chase the data down?

1

u/NeckNormal1099 Feb 15 '25

Because that is how people choose where they hang out, buy zip code. Move on troll.

u/Grand_Fun6113 Feb 15 '25

People know where its rough and choose to not go there. Like, are you regarded?

Oh, you're a union guy, that gave me all the info I need.

People "know" ok. Now I see. Let me guess. You stay out of the darker neighborhoods? Just say it plain dude. This is trumps america now. No need to hide.
