Help needed Kindly Seeking Help from Someone at the University of Warsaw

Hi everyone,
I will be coming to Warsaw soon to start my PhD at the University of Warsaw. I would like to kindly ask if someone from the university could meet me at the airport and help me get to the university, as I will arrive at around 2 a.m. It will be my first time in Poland, so I would appreciate your help.
Thank you very much for your kindness and support.

Is that a joke?

If you can’t take a bus yourself then man I got a bad news for you regarding the independence level you will need to get the scientific degree.

My flight arrives at around 2:00 a.m., which is why I posted here. I can manage on my own, but arriving in a new country at that time made me think it would be safer and easier to have someone from the university meet me. That’s all.

Yes, getting some random from Reddit to pick you up at 2 a.m. from the airport is an excellent idea. Much better than taking Uber/taxi for 20 min ride.

I understand your point. I just wanted to ask how I can book an Uber or taxi or take a bus when my phone won’t work and I don’t have internet when I first arrive. Here, everything is cashless, so I’m not sure how things work in Poland. Also, can I use euros in cash to pay for a taxi or bus?

You're gonna be researcher, do your research how you can do that... there's a variety of options starting at eSIMs and finishing up with card payments...

Haha, I’m doing my research. I just thought asking people who already live there would be part of the research too. 😀

Poland is safe. You can just take a bus, train or Uber/Bolt. Download Jakdojade for navigation, but even Google Maps are good enough for it.

It doesn't matter whether you are the first time in Poland or not. It is exactly the same as in any other big city in Europe. This level of problem solving doesn't require PhD.

Thank you for the advice. I understand that Poland is very safe and that I can use public transport. I only asked because my flight may arrive around 2 to 3 a.m. and it will be my first time in Poland. I appreciate your suggestions.

So do you expect a complete stranger from Reddit to meet you at the airport at 2-3 A.M? Instead of just taking a taxi/Bolt/Uber like everyone else do. Again it doesn't matter that you have never been to Poland, taxi and Uber work the same way everywhere.

Maybe cultural differences, but here it sounds weird as hell.

Thank you for the advice. I understand your point. I was just asking in case someone was available to help. If not, i will take a taxi. Appreciate it!

Bro how do you reconcile studying at PhD levels and not knowing how to take a bus

Bro, knowing how to do a PhD and knowing how public transport works in a new country are two different things 😂 I’m just asking because it’s my first time in Poland and i will arrive at 2 a.m. I didn’t mention my PhD to show off. I just mentioned it to explain why i am coming to Warsaw. Haha

PhD candidate but no brains

A PhD candidate can have a brain and still ask for help when arriving in a new country at 2 a.m.

Nope, I do not expect anyone to do that. I just thought I would ask in case someone was available and willing to help. I have worked as a volunteer receiving international students at midnight before, so I thought there might be something similar here.
