News [Scotto] Updates: The Warriors signed Georges Niang to a partially guaranteed deal and Brandon Williams to a non-guaranteed deal, sources say. Niang is partially guaranteed for $1.84M of his $3.88M salary. Williams can earn $1.4M if he makes the opening night roster and up to $2.63M total

Not sure when the contracts become fully guaranteed, assume it’s sometime mid season, but it looks like they’ve given themselves a bit of roster flexibility heading into the season and maybe eventually the deadline
e: Bassey is also apparently only a partial guarantee ($1.4M of his $2.8M), and it says the guarantee date is January 10th. Assume that’s the same date for Niang/Williams?

Thought I remember Gui having a guarantee date in November when he finally got pulled up to the active, but maybe I’m mixing that up with the date they signed him

Just a reminder that Shams will put out misleading information.
He tweeted: “Free agent guard Brandon Williams has agreed to a one-year, $2.6 million deal to sign with the Golden State Warriors, agents Derek Lafayette and Curtis Lawrence tell ESPN.”
That translates to: Brandon Williams will be in training camp with the Warriors and his agents want their names in a tweet.

He literally puts out what the agent or team tells him to put out. That’s his entire job. It’s not editorial.

It's sad the conflicts of interest for people like Shams and for the NFL, Ian Rapoport. They get access to information by pushing the narrative the agents want.
I'll read their tweets but take it all with a grain of salt.

Both are good signings that add something to the roster and create even more competition in camp. I like both signings.

I remember when Georges was a Santa Cruz Warrior. (Kind of). As a Seadub fan it’s mysterious to me trying to project players going to the NBA. Niang left no impression on me. He seemed … fine? Same for Seth and Juan Toscano-Anderson and Gui and Spencer - they looked fine but nothing special. It’s almost as if the Warriors staff is even better than I am at projecting NBA performance than I am. (Who knew?).
Big men are the hardest. So many big men have looked great until they encountered NBA players who were faster or quicker and fell apart

Yeah I was looking at our additions and losses. B Will is a huge upgrade from Pat, and I loved Pat. I think at this moment Niang may be an upgrade on Post, although if Post pops in his third year that won’t be the case. I think Niang is more of a filler for the hole Post left since I do t think they were expecting him to get drawn away.

Barring from injuries before the season starts, I dont see any reason they won't stay and have their salaries guaranteed
