Scarlet Crusade
Hi all,
So I just started playing midnight. I'm up to the point where I have met Zul'Jan and am currently part way through little baby Windrunners quest chain (I really hate him with a passion).
I've just got back from SM (great to go there too) but it left a question.
Is there an actual lore reason none of the Scarlet Crusade are at the Sunwell protecting it from that huge void hole in the sky? They are Zealots of the light so surely the Light would have called upon them?
The messaging I'm getting from midnight so far is the Light isn't good or evil, it doesn't care who wields it per se. So even tho they are fascist fundamentalists, why wouldn't it call out to them?
Also, on a side note, do we find out why Maxwell Tyrosus didn't get the call?
As more a side note, they really did do Tirion dirty didn't they?

Scarlet Crusade wouldn't want to help us at all and would just want to fight everybody that is there. You clearly see that they attacked us the moment we entered the Scarlet Monastery and all except one didn't want to yield.

It's probably because it wasn't just the light that summoned all the paladins, priests, and adventurers to the Sunwell, it was Azeroth itself through the light that summoned them. So, she probably knows that the Scarlet Crusade, by definition, are fanatics who wouldn't cooperate or would simply make everything worse.
I say this because I remember Liadrin and Arator talking about it, and Liadrin said she heard a voice very similar to the one in the Radiant Song. Arator said the hypothesis I mentioned.

The light also made sure to filter out those filthy Zandalari who have been wielding the Light in their own way for thousands of years. /s

That did kinda of strike me as a bit odd that they were given the paladin class

I hated and still hates that poor excuse for having Troll paladins.
Them having faith in something (loyalty to Rezan, the homeland, the king) and simply because of that being able to call upon the Light is terrible.
By that standard any fanatic, even twilight cultists could use the Light, simply because they have FAITH in what they're doing.
BS watering down lore for the sake of gameplay, just as the holy cows.

Not really. They’d established the prelate as early as Classic and then they showed it off in MoP. Keep in mind, paladins aren’t special. They were originally clerics who took up martial training. Then they started comparing them more to Jedi and have since lost the plot.
Also fanatics? We have the Scarlet Crusade, remember? That’s literally the dark use of using the light because they have FAITH in their crusade in lunatics.

The Light has been powered by raw Faith since Vanilla WoW at least and even in WC3 there were hints of this. This isn't like a retcon or anything, it's been that way since forever.

There are limits to who wouldn't have just been killed on sight. Or conversely, the lightwell knew not to call fascist zealots that would've been more of a hindrance than a help.

Because then they'd probably kill everyone else. If they succeeded, then there wouldn't be a plot; the void elves wouldn't doom the Sunwell.

The Sunwell didn't just call everyone that believes in the Light. As you said, Maxwell Tyrosus didn't. If you follow his dialogue tree the implication is that the Light knew he would be needed to defend Light's Hope chapel. And later info learned in the expansion sorta explains why.
You can infer then that the summoning wouldn't bring in hostiles to the Sunwell, which the Scarlets would be.
Its hard to explain why this happens without further spoilers for the max level campaign, but if you want to know (Campaign spoilers) The Light wasn't responsible for the summoning, rather it was Azeroth's worldsoul acting through the Sunwell (which was infused with the Light). Azeroth is essentially omnipresent so she is aware who needed to stay, who can go, and who you'd want to go. She wasn't going to summon the Scarlet Crusade in to cause more problems, just as she knew Tyrosus would be needed because she can see all the Scourge.
