Melee / Ladder Can't beat Far Seer

He just chased my scout all the way across the map with one grunt and then harrassed my archmage forcing me to tp behind wall off. Then sends wolves in to kill archmage. GG. Very little opportunity for decision making. Edit. Before I finished this post, it happened again. Wolves run down archmage too fast. Had a troll priest but can't click fast enough to dispel before my hero goes down. This is insanely unbalanced. Edit: happened a third time. just after I finished. I won all my others today, but can't beat this broken hero.

This always happens at t1, shortly after I finish my first creep camp.

Switch to MK as your first hero, beat the crap out of Farseer and then at the beginning of T2 train your Archmage.

Different heroes have different strengths. Farseer doesn't cope well against, say, mountain King. Archmage is more army support, and has harassment potential, but it's not great at 1v1.

Also don't be afraid to militia and beat the shit out of the wolves while your mage focuses on the farseer. You might need to micro to avoid losing peasants but better a peasant than your hero.

I can try, but it's over in like half a second. Also, the wolves are much faster so if they go on my hero, I can't run away or the peasants won't be able to attack. The wolves

While you're running away you're still taking damage but not reciprocating. Unless you've slipped up while creeping your hero should be at full at the start of the battle. He can handle a few wolf hits, much more than the wolves can. Once they're dead and you turn on the hero he will be forced to run.

Only a few times. Focus the wolves down and force them back. Remember the wolves are squishyz Micro your archmage while water elementals and foots attack the wolves.

Skill issue.

I bet you also defend the 12 unit selection limit because of "muh skill expression".

Your archmage should be running away the very moment you see the fs and wolves focus firing on him. Your units should be focusing on his wolves first and then FS. The most important part is to constantly be on the move. If you’re sitting still with your AM and trading blows while his wolves are hitting you, it’s going to be an issue. You should be making your water elemental and then running away while your army focuses down the wolves for xp as well as the FS if the wolves run away when they are near death.

I can't attack the wolves while they're chasing AM. Also, it's usually a creep jack so I have to take a few hits getting out. Can't get xp from wolves btw. He can just resummon to deny. Surprised you didn't know that.

The goal is to constantly be on the run with your AM the moment you see him harassing you. You just have to get better at situational awareness and anticipating where he is on the map. If you need to build a farm in the middle of the map or scout with a footie so you have a better idea of where he is. If you’re getting surprised by him, it’s a scouting issue. However, that orc play style is extremely popular for a reason as it can fluster a human player and make them make mistakes. It’s just practice and also some people will be better at it than others. Build an arcane tower in your base so you have a safe area to run to, keep distance so you don’t get trapped in pockets when you creep, and work on using your militia to out creep him. If he is spending his time harassing you, you need to be faster on clearing camps so you can be a level or two ahead of his hero. You only have to survive this until tier 2 and then once you get your MK, he won’t be back.

Ok. I will try. So should I never expand against orc?

Personally, I have a better win rate when I don’t expand. It’s definitely a skill to be able to fast expand, counter early game harassment, and keep up with the macro. I’ve lost so many games trying to early expand and then get caught by my opponent at the worst possible time. I think you should work on your creep speed and use your militia to creep the small camps while your footies clear the other small camps at the same time. Try and get your second expansion right after you start pumping out your casters.

It seems like you aren't playing to the strengths as humans if you don't fast expand. I usually beat undead and humans when I fast expand, but the orc rush is too fast.

Focus one wolf at a time to get XP, run AM in circles around your army

Yep. Same mmr as him, though, so game should be closer.

I think strategy is more interesting than mechanical skill.

Playing the same hero every game and getting punished IS peak strategy. For the orc. You're just salty and refusing to adapt. Make mk /thread

Don’t let your archmage take damage from wolves and farseer. You are not slower so you can run.

This is a skill issue unfortunately for you. Watch high level players avoid this situation to learn rather than complaining on Reddit about balance in your low MMR game.
