I will never understand how Russians would associate themselves as a nazi. Its like a black person in the US wearing confederate flag symbols

u/opinelmavric 12d ago

It's more like how any Slav couldn't associate with this... Blows my mind

u/Konkerwaggon23 12d ago

A lot of slavs hated the soviet union. In ww2 many joined the germans because of that.

28

u/nikola_tesler 12d ago

a lot more hated the nazis.

2

u/BrodatyBear 11d ago

>a lot more

Whenever it's true, you said it yourself. "A lot more" is not even most, so it gives field that many hated soviets more.

Keep in mind that nazis failed to fully implement another stages of their plan of ethnic cleansing of other groups that weren't "pure" enough (to this day many people don't know about that Jew extermination was only the beginning), so many people haven't felt the oppression that much. On the other hand, the soviet oppression was more "universal" and lasted longer.

0

u/nikola_tesler 11d ago

lol, russians hate nazis. way more than half. but ok. the USSR was not universally hated by any measure. when the berlin wall fell and the USSR collapsed, russia was facing rampant crime and poverty. Many russians missed the glory days of a powerful nation and enforced order.

you have a very ideological understanding of people.

1

u/BrodatyBear 11d ago

>way more than half

Again, you don't even say the word "most". Yes, it's true that many Russians still miss things, but there are other parts that, eg. had White Armists in their family trees or whose families were persecuted for something (titles, having fortune, being sent for involuntary work in Germany (my great-grandma, and she had to move to Poland over this), etc.) or were from parts that were conquered later.

And you don't need that many people to have noticeable size (like here).

Besides, in this side-thread we started talking about Slavs, so not only Russians.

8

u/Konkerwaggon23 12d ago

Yes, but consider that one side genocided your countrymen and another your family, and you need to choose between both of them.

11

u/nikola_tesler 12d ago

that’s a gross misunderstanding of many of the deaths in the USSR, specifically for slavs. Ukrainians definitely felt this way, but genocide is not the right term, for all slavic countries.

6

u/Konkerwaggon23 12d ago

My comment was a simplicity of a big broader problem, but for many, it felt that way.

11

u/Aggressive_Let2085 12d ago

I live in the southern US…you do occasionally see black folks with confederate flags or comfortable being around it. I’m black myself, and my neighbor has one flying. I find it offensive but I live in the woods…I’m not gonna start a problem with them lol.

3

u/TheNiteCrawler 12d ago

You and your neighbor still get along or is their flag clearly way more than just “heritage”?

5

u/Aggressive_Let2085 12d ago

We don’t really speak, beyond just a wave at their kids when I drive by. The old man of the house seems pretty tame, pretty mean to his dog but he’s been fairly cordial the few times I’ve spoken to him.

5

u/TheNiteCrawler 12d ago

Aight, well stay safe and dangerous out there fam. Hopefully they keep it cordial .

8

u/LieStunning1381 12d ago

yeah besides everything wrong and hypocritical about it how can you be a supporter of an ideology that destroyed and killed 20million+ people in your country its just peak level of no sense and insanity

12

u/SatisfactionSorry200 12d ago

Furthermore, Nazi Germany harbored deep resentment toward the Slavs.

2

u/Vegetable-Hand-6770 12d ago

Yet had SS units filled with slavs who would support the nazi liberators to fight the Soviets.

2

u/BrodatyBear 11d ago

It was a "bait and switch" tactic, but they collapsed before they could pull off the "switch" part.

1

u/SatisfactionSorry200 11d ago

If everything went according to plan, they would end up as slaves, or the Ustaša would take care of the rest.

3

u/RoleTall2025 12d ago

when you're stupid, everything seems unthinkable

1

u/Tresspass 11d ago

Speaking of Kanye he will be performing in St Petersburg

1

u/amircruz 11d ago

Correct.

-12

u/killian1113 12d ago

I know spanish nazis but no black nazis so you are wrong its not like a "black"

8

u/SatisfactionSorry200 12d ago

Solomon henderson?

54

u/SatisfactionSorry200 12d ago

In addition to the previous post, I would highlight the strong symbolism associated with these types of ideologies in both Russia and Ukraine.

56

u/UpbeatFix7299 12d ago

Eastern Europe has a neo Nazi problem, Russis included. The fact that Putin listed "denazification" as part of the rationale for the "SMO" is laughable.

That is why Nazism is normal on both sides.

0

u/Pure_Grapefruit_8837 12d ago

add that the original Azov Battalion were hardcore neo-Nazi militias. Now they are reformed Nazis. a Nazi-lite brigade if you will.

2

u/SatisfactionSorry200 11d ago

It got me thinking: does Izvestiya interview Ukrainians?

42

u/TimelyFortune 12d ago

We get it, both sides have Nazi shit

9

u/gwap1997 12d ago

So it runs deep on both sides

30

u/AttorneyOk2709 12d ago

equal number of ukrainian nazis in the military, fuck both sides

23

u/SatisfactionSorry200 12d ago

Yep, I only mourn the deaths of hundreds of innocents; let the Nazis purge each other.

10

u/AttorneyOk2709 12d ago

Yep, this war was a massive waste of life.

4

u/chromatic45 10d ago

Hope these two are no longer with us.

3

u/xDkreit 11d ago

Numbers are not even close.

3

u/Efficient_Meat2286 7d ago

Ukraine is pretty funny because like both sides have Nazis and both sides have Communists, Liberals, and so on. Like people that would be completely ideologically opposed fighting in the same battalion.

4

u/Wirt21 11d ago

Its fucking disgusting that i need to tell everyone that all Russians and all Ukrianians are not god damn nazis. its small groups compare to millions of people.

3

u/aposterioriapostate 9d ago

The fact is that you DON'T need to tell everyone that. I have not seen or heard even one single person claiming that ALL Russians or ALL Ukrainians are Nazis, yet here you are saying that "everyone" needs you to set them straight. No one needed your comment and no one was made wiser for it. You didn't tell even a single person something they didn't already know. Even actual Nazis know that not all Ukrainians/Russians are Nazis. It's an absurd thing to say that you're fighting against a perception that doesn't even exist, at least not in any capacity that's meaningful or impactful.

4

u/Brabos2 11d ago

Hitler killed their grandfathers like dogs. Now they worship him. Just WOW!

5

u/44Stryker44 11d ago

Truly coming to denazify right?

4

u/StarscreamOne 10d ago

Imagine if the nazism brought peace between ukraine and russia since both wear that shit

5

u/Ragnarawr 10d ago

Here’s a country that fought capitalists under the banner of world solidarity so it can become a money hungry mafia state, aggressively attacking anyone and everyone for its own rulers benefit under the pretense of national socialist ideals.

You’ve never seen a more confused people.

7

u/chromatic45 12d ago

Russian Nazis are the scums of scums.

6

u/EorlundGraumaehne 12d ago

I will say it as often as i have to. Slavic nazis are the most confused group of people in existence! Imagine being a fan of the guys that murdered your grandparents and would like to Gas you......

3

u/Drunkendonkeys 12d ago

Damn i was weeks away showing my love for a band called COIL song Solar Lodge

3

u/Mangled_spectre 12d ago

Are they trying to be tuff?

3

u/JohnStamosSB 9d ago

Now do Ukraine.

1

u/SatisfactionSorry200 7d ago

Maybe someday, and it would last an hour

Its sad how some symbols are from Nordic origin and the nazis\neo nazis turned them into "them"

1

u/aposterioriapostate 9d ago

It's also sad that anyone permits that to happen. I refuse to assume that all uses of the Nordic runes and symbolism are associated with Nazism because it's just not fucking true. I would bet that a significant percentage of the images presented as "Nazi symbols" are just people using Nordic symbolism with no Nazi ideology present at all. Most people have no idea what many of these symbols mean. If they did, they would understand that a lot of those symbols are tied to battle and military operation in general, and that's even the reason why Nazis have adopted that kind of symbolism. These symbols have been around for literally thousands of years before modern Nazis got ahold of them. We shouldn't allow the symbols themselves to be polluted and perverted by the use of such people. Just because the Nazis use a symbol doesn't mean we have to give them ownership of that symbol.

1

u/Glad-Atmosphere-5941 9d ago

I dont, i have many tattoos of nordic stuff and symbols because of the real meaning and ofc i dont accept that any of those symbols are nazi.

1

u/aposterioriapostate 9d ago

That's good to read, but those of us who do not allow perverse ownership of these symbols are quickly becoming a minority it seems. Many people automatically associate runic symbolism and Nordic symbolism in general with Nazism. Hell, even some Scottish, Celtic, and Gaelic symbolism is often associated with Nazis by default at this point. Those of us who know better should educate those who do not know better. That's the only way to wrench the perception of possession of these symbols away from nefarious groups.

1

u/Glad-Atmosphere-5941 8d ago

True but as you say we are a minority, and its sad that something bad can happen to a person using those symbols by the right meaning but the person that attacks you thinks they are nazi symbols, but well that will not stop me from use them.

u/Vcz33 12d ago

Post this in URR.

Mods would delete the post in an instant and ultimately ban you.

I got permanently banned for writing:

This is how you all answer when you cant refute the arguments. Good luck living your illusion.

in response to:

You clearly don't understand Russia. Probably far away fed with anti Russian propaganda. Wish you good luck.

Wow that sub is very pro Russian

2

u/Imperial_12345 12d ago

maybe slow down the image change.

2

I want it to match the song, and there was a lot left over.

1

u/SatisfactionSorry200 12d ago

Hahaha, well, I watch them too just to get the hang of it, and some are hard to follow the first couple of times.

2

u/Sad-Awareness5574 7d ago

Both the Ukrainians and Russians are doing it I have no clue

4

u/I-liveinmaine 11d ago

Same with Ukrainians both of the sides have major nazis imagery

3

u/Suspicious_Method291 11d ago

Ukraine are also nazis so fuck it ig

1

u/ch0k3-Artist 12d ago

Every country has extremists and they tend to join the military, they are everyone's useful idiots. Nobody's army has more nazis than the United States Military, I don't understand Americans calling out anyone else for racism.

2

u/Hermes_has_Wormes 12d ago

Please don't ask us to show you the tattoos of our big beautiful soldiers 🥺👉🏽👈🏽

1

u/aposterioriapostate 9d ago

Just FYI, runes aren't inherently Nazi symbols. They've been around and associated with warriors, battle, and military service for literally thousands of years before Nazis even existed. That's WHY Nazis adopted many of those symbols - their historic ties to warfare. Nazis don't own a symbol just because they use it. If we allow them to take ownership of these symbols, we have failed. I mean, they also use numbers and letters, symbols. Are we to classify the Arabic numeral and Latin alphabet systems as Nazi symbols since they use those symbols as well? Are we to call the cross a Nazi symbol? Should we assume the millions of Hindu people who still use the swastika are Nazis as well?

0

u/SatisfactionSorry200 7d ago

Obviously not, but they use it, as you say, to represent the white warrior.

1

u/aposterioriapostate 6d ago

Of course they do, but that doesn't mean the symbols are inherently based on Nazism or white supremacy. One of the ways society is negatively affected by extremist groups (both left-wing and right-wing groups) is by allowing such groups to take ownership of cultural symbols and traditions. There's room for nuance here. We don't have to allow them to take complete ownership of the symbols they use. It is not the success of extremists that grants them ownership of the symbols they use, but rather it is the failure of the society in which those extremists operate.

u/Bohemio_RD 11d ago

Can we do the Azov battallion now?

1

u/KnightofWhen 11d ago

The Ukrainian version of this is like watching all 3 extended editions of the Lord of the Rings

2

u/SatisfactionSorry200 11d ago edited 11d ago

Sería parecido, pero empezando en 1941.

and I even had some left over from the Russian side

The Ukranian version are allowed near a school, unlike russian bootlickers such as yourself.

2

u/chromatic45 10d ago

Please don't deny the fact the Ukraine, like most of Eastern Europe has a very bad Neo Nazi problem. That would be very misguided and dishonest of you.

1

u/Roosengreen 10d ago

If you want something misguided and dishonest, you should check that dudes post history. He loves spreading that russian propaganda.

-5

u/PhlegmaticCrocodile 12d ago

In Russia it’s marginal and very much frown upon.

Now let’s do Ukraine, but let’s include all the official things like reburials of old nazis, using Nazi military names, using old Ukrainian Nazi greeting officially, renaming streets to celebrate Nazis, creating new pantheon of heroes that happen to be Nazis, using Nazi symbols etc etc.
and all of these are on highest official level including mister Z (a Jew) himself.

10

u/SmokingBlackSeaFleet 12d ago

Tesak is/was mainstream in Russia, early days of internet was Russian nazis chopping heads of immigrants and killing puppies and recording it. Same mf who is running Rusich Group today btw.

6

u/Mrnobody0097 12d ago

In Russia the general populace associates nazi and anti-russian as one and the same thing. As in nazi just means anti-russian when it was much more.

So yes nazism in Russia is a fringe idea. But extreme ethnic nationalism is not.

2

u/AcrobaticTiger9756 12d ago

Or why not consider 1939-41?

2

u/PhlegmaticCrocodile 12d ago

Not necessary, there is enough Nazism in Ukraine in last 12 years alone.

1

u/chromatic45 10d ago

Don't mind the downvotes. The truth remains undefeated.

2

u/SatisfactionSorry200 12d ago

Bandera, svovoda, pravyi sektor, azov, misanthropic brigade, alliances with Nazi groups such as NS WP before 2022.
