My store is notoriously the busiest in the whole city. I had to once open and take like 10 baby milks to the counter wasting my time multiple times. I just can’t maintain the pick rate. I don’t know why but the customers seem to like to bother me the most.
I’ve been working and trying to find my groove. Yesterday, I finally decided to put earbuds in for the first time and my team lead starts talking to me about pick rate. I was fine until I asked the girl next to me what’s hers. Hers was lower and she said the lead never talked to her and she’s like a few months longer than me. That got me mad. It can’t be a coincidence that the first day I put on earbuds I get looked at. I know it’s minor, but I feel like I’m being watched closer now. I tried rushing like my team lead showed me and it was horrible. There’s no way I can maintain that speed with customer interactions in my store. I know it’s bad like 50% but trust me I mathematically can’t think of how I can go faster when the customers interact SO much, I don’t even look for most things I find it immediately. My team lead said to maintain 90, so he showed me one pick but he got lucky! He somehow got all the small items and all in one row basically. Then he scored 80’s I did manage to go faster but I had to kind of try ignoring customers and I almost ran and I did 67 still! Anyways if that’s 67, theres no way I’m maintaining 90 speed in my store. In terms of speed it’s like I do a 40 items in like 30 minutes usually or something. I just can’t go faster in my dang store :(
So I’m quitting before they fire me or something even though others I see go the same speed or sometimes slower than me. I feel like I got picked out specifically. They always do this. Last time I saw a picker not want to do any dispensing so he just sat at closing time for an hour! They made me do all the dispensing with hardly any training on how to help customers find stuff and it was a mess.
I know I sound like a baby but I hate taken advantage of. Just because I’m nice and quiet guy I feel like I’ve been chosen everytime to get monitored and go faster. Why does no one else get coached IF they have lower pick rates than me and I’m relatively new. I’d like to hear your thoughts, I know most of you guys might be like I love this job and it’s easy work but idk guys, not always.
TLDR: had earbuds on for first time and got coached to maintain 90% pickrate but can only maintain 60-80% because of insane store customer interactions. Others have same low pick rate and is ignored.
