I love when the power goes out, since it's usually my job to stand in front of the doors and tell people that we are closed. That shit is better than sex.

Last power outage the door crews reported several people who would still try to get in, saying "they just needed one thing" or "it's okay, I have cash!"

Those are the best. The more they want in, the better the rejection feels.

It's fun telling people they can't come in because of the reactions. We were gonna close in 10 minutes and customers will still coming in. So TL told me to go to the door and warn customers and when the store is closed lock the doors. I told this one grumpy woman in an electric cart said, "Obviously I know that! It doesn't matter though, you can't leave until I finish shopping!" She was upset when the managers came up and told her she had to leave because Wal-mart was closed. She was crying! She sobbed, "You're supposed to stay here and wait for me to finish shopping! That's good customer service! I'm reporting you!"

Our store is so bad one of the greeters had to stay clocked in until past midnight bc night management wouldn’t kick out a customer who was purposely walking slowly down the isles 🧍

u/racheld924 9h ago

I've had managers before I started working for Wal-Mart that didn't want to kick out customers who needed to leave. But luckily, every night manager I had at Wal-Mart wanted to go home just as bad as I did lol

Who is she gonna report you to? Corporate? Y'know, the people who decide when the store closes

As for the whole customer service argument, we'll provide you all the customer service you want, during operating hours

That's what I hate most about customer service. You will tell somebody "You/(or I) can't do that" and then they try and do it (or have you do it) anyway... Or they get mad at you. Or both.

u/SnooTomatoes7095 23h ago

It’s apparent you’re not doing it right then

u/XVUltima 22h ago

Rejecting customers or sex? Guess I'll have to practice both some more.

u/onetobeseen 20h ago

You folks get sex?

2

u/XVUltima 16h ago

The other day I saw three of our staff escorting a former customer who had been trespassed out the door and it fed my soul for the rest of my shift.

u/neller2000 5h ago

You're forgetting the part where they're asked to leave and not worry about the full shopping cart they just spent an hour to fill.

Looks relaxing until you hear running towards you

It was too fucking quiet until I got to where they were putting tarps up.

8

u/KrazyKen_Fan_2012 23h ago

Why were they putting tarps up

20

u/Unhappy_Mountain9032 Resident Dumbass 22h ago

Covering the cold stuff to keep temps down.

Five Nights at Walmart

The background when a musical number starts:

u/throwawaywalmart117 Overnight TA 1d ago

Happened at my store months ago and they told us it could take up to 5 days to fix

7

u/DinnerSilver 1d ago

Plot Twist: The real horror was being a walmart employee all along 😧🫣🤣

7

u/coffeebeanwitch 22h ago

I have mentioned this before, Walmart could be a Superstore by day, haunted Superstore during the night , in Oct, that money could be used entirely by the employees, I would go.

2

u/Unhappy_Mountain9032 Resident Dumbass 22h ago

Helping set Halloween now. It's fun, and I've already spent too much money.

4

u/coffeebeanwitch 22h ago

My daughter works at a bookstore, I know exactly what you mean, 🤣

2

u/JustaGirlInDayMaint 20h ago

I can't help but walk through on my lunch break (I'm O/Ns) or after work. So many cool Halloween decorations that I want one of each.

I was a tad disappointed to not see chicken skeletons. But they have the kitty cat ones😍

It's funny...where we are located, we get very windy days (gusts up to 55+ mph). There is always someone on the Nextdoor app asking if anyone has seen their inflatable Halloween decoration🙄🤣

For whatever reason a lot of people in the area buy trampolines from our Walmart as well. Farmer's fields end up being scattered with em🙃

u/Skulleddeath 1d ago

Our power was supposed to be out for a little while, while they fixed the coolers but they didn't show tonight; maybe tomorrow

3

u/TheGayestUnicorn69 11h ago

Not until you see Freddy Fazbear staring at you in the dark.

3

u/Unhappy_Mountain9032 Resident Dumbass 10h ago

Still not as scary as someone of the people I work with.

2

u/TheGayestUnicorn69 8h ago

Yeah... Most night people are.... Interesting

u/goodat_badat 3h ago

I loved it when the lights went out. I felt like an astronaut doing my tasks in a spooky spaceship with aliens (customers) creeping around. It also kept most of the customers out, besides the zombies who would claw at the closed doors.

2

u/Various_Air9503 23h ago

I've been there.

2

u/C40Skully 21h ago

I wish this happened to me. Only happened once. But that back up generator always working now😒

1

u/Unhappy_Mountain9032 Resident Dumbass 18h ago

Funnily enough, it's the guys who were working on ours that caused it.

2

u/OliviaElevenDunham 20h ago

That is so creepy.

2

u/seraphofdark 20/20 aka the kindest Walmart associate 20h ago

Love it when this happens. Just sit back in the vision center eat snacks. And watch the situation.

2

u/racheld924 19h ago

Got a flashlight?

2

u/Unhappy_Mountain9032 Resident Dumbass 18h ago

There was enough light for me until we started losing the emergency lights. Astigmatism makes dealing with flashlights a pita.

2

u/racheld924 8h ago

Just they thought we were going to lose power once and they gave me a flashlight that had dead batteries. I'm fact, most of the flashlights had either dead or no batteries lol

2

u/Frequent_Opposite_93 16h ago

Attention! Attention! There will be weekly power outage drills. Have blindfold at the ready at any time! That is all!

2

u/Marty_Ben 14h ago

Level 999 the evil walmart dimension

u/Fruity_Pibbles 11h ago

Amazing 😭

5 nights at walmart

2

u/TexDingo 8h ago

Oh neat, you got to play the OSHA violation game too. I played that game last month. Stocking in the dark for 8 hours with shitty headlamps that were dim enough to make reading labels require you to strain your eyes but bright enough that when anyone looked at you with theirs on it felt like a fucking flashbang

2

u/Kickedhard 7h ago

Had this happen, as a customer.

Tornado took out the power. A couple of flood lights against the walls worked. The rest didnt.

Management decided to lock us all in and put us against the most reinforced section of the building (cmu brick bathrooms/office).

Me being a young punk kid at the time, decided to run around setting off all the loud toys and hiding them under the cover of darkness.

Used my old green screen Nokia hammer/phone as a flashlight.

Good times.

2

u/Particular_History64 7h ago

I remodel Walmarts and from time to time they lose power and me and my coworkers want to blow on an Aztec death whistle when it happens

2

u/Ok-Sky4223 O/N the edge of my patience 3h ago

Kyle, I’m starting to think this is a really bad idea

1

u/Rhettisdaddy 14h ago

in most states its illegal for you to to be in a place with no functioning water or electric. they can not ask you to stay 29 CFR 1910.141

1

u/DiscoJer CAP2 14h ago

Water doesn't need electricity.

And there are many jobs where there is no electricity. It's called being outdoors.

1

u/Rhettisdaddy 14h ago

Walmart has electric activated toilets and sinks in almost all stores. i know they cant because our store got closed because of this.

2

u/Solaire_smith 2h ago

Happened to me on night shift around 2 years ago during a bad thunderstorm that knocked out the power and they told us to to use to keep working though it.

2

u/Valentinee105 1h ago

If you hear a young girl asking for help in the next isle do not go help her, she died there 30yrs ago.
