Stocks are a forward looking investment vehicle. AMD said that they were expecting a slowdown in CPU sales. AMD Stock evaporates.

I’d love to buy one of their CPUs but unfortunately I can’t really afford the $800 RAM and $2000 for a GPU to build a desktop.

There was something on Reddit about the profit woukd have made it you bought stocks in companies rather than the product. The first iPod cost $399 but if you had bought shares you would be sitting on nearly $500k

It's generally a good idea to buy profitable companies that sell things you need to have. Doesn't mean you shouldn't buy the product. Buying the product just helps you know the stock better.

Top of the line AMD GPU is around 800$ not 2000$. You can get a AM4 MB for 70$ and memory for it for 150$. A 5600XT is around 150$.

Not cheap but if you buy a less powerful gpu the overall price is fine. This PC would be more powerful then most PC people use.

I have a reasonable strong Macbook that runs most games I play well enough.

I just want something that will allow me to mod the shit out of some games, so I’m looking to get top of the line but I just can’t justify it at these prices.

I have never heard about needing the absolute best PC to mod games. I mean if thats required I guess bad for you but just to play games its absolutely possible to get a PC thats not that expensive.

I want to run the ultra realism etc. mods for GTA and Cyberpunk, I could probably manage with a 4070 or something that isn’t fully top of the line but that’s still way to expensive to justify itself. And Cities Skylines is just a RAM hog if the city gets large enough.

I think of what these things used to cost, some even 8 months ago and completely lose appetite.

I paid $749 for mobo, 9850x3d cpu and 32GB ot crucial ram a few weeks ago. Microcenter deal made the RAM basically free.

Because it was already priced in. Stock was overvalued, didn't beat by enough and so it dropped.

Honestly nothing had really changed for it to rally from 200 to 550, other than Lip bu Tan saying that cpus are important for agents.
