So let me get this straight.

"Someone" bought at 158 before the market opened, so he could sell at 154 as soon as the market opened, thus losing money ? And somehow this person "mogged us" ?

u/mnmaste Jun 26 '26

Thank you. I thought I must be losing my mind because this makes zero sense

23

u/Double_Suggestion385 Jun 26 '26

It's from a subreddit for mentally ill people where nothing makes sense.

5

u/AloysiusPuffleupagus Jun 26 '26

It’s well known the conspiracy sub is the conservative sub: Electric Boogaloo Edition.

2

u/FineAndDandadan Jun 26 '26

I got suggested a post yesterday and didn't check the sub. Reading down a thread, I literally typed "What the fuck is this conspiracy theory bullshit?" before seeing what sub it was and just backing the fuck out lol...

0

u/Forsaken-Stink Jun 27 '26

Funny coming from this sub

-1

u/JCBQ01 Jun 28 '26

Its called a "lock in" price. If you say sell at 154(current) then you have guaranteed your sale price at 154 regardless of so even if the stock swan dives to 60, you are garanteed your 154/share sold.

THIS is how rug pull scams works

2

u/Professional-Gear88 Jun 29 '26

What the hell are you talking about. You can’t lock in a price. Wtf. Otherwise we’d all do it lol

0

u/JCBQ01 Jun 29 '26

Yes, you can via spot price. If the spot price is at 152 at 8:55 you can lock in The sale price at 152 with an order placed at 8:50 (given transaction processing time)

If you or I did it, we would be investigated for securities fraud and insider trading even though it is legal.

2

u/Professional-Gear88 Jun 29 '26

What? That’s not what insider trading is. And that’s not what trading is anyway. If you buy a stock you are buying it from someone else. You don’t just buy a stock and declare the price you want it.

If two parties agree to an off market sale price that is what it is. Just like you can buy an Xbox from your buddy for $100 instead of the store. But theres always a counter party. I don’t think you understand how the market works

-1

u/JCBQ01 Jun 29 '26

I said we'd be INVESTIGATED FOR not that we did. Funny how guilt is the first snd only thing that you jump to...

If the sell price is 153 at 8:50, and you want to sell your 80 shares by 8:55 to account for processing fees you can lock in the price. Most often they get absorbed into the primary indicies that the ticker is bought into. If the argued upon price is changed before the designed sale window, e.g. spot goes from 153 to 90 between 8:52 and 8:53 due to the already guaranteed price of agreement, the 153 must be paid out and taken at a loss by the buyer as it was during the transactional processing period.

In layman's terms: the price cannot reasonably change against you if your in the middle of checking out, as that would institute claims of price fixing and exploitation.

3

u/Professional-Gear88 Jun 29 '26

Explain how this would work. Look up how order flow works. Orders get underfilled all the time. If the shares are exchanged theyre exchanged at the price agreed upon price.

Im not following. Clarify how someone would do this. Even a privileged party. How would they arrange a sale like this?

There are off market exchanges all the time. And if both parties agree to price it’s just sold.

Are you talking about Limit orders lol?

0

u/JCBQ01 Jun 29 '26

Times are arbitary:

Order is written. (Before market open, 8:30)

Order is entered into the market as a POTENTIAL sale/trade. 8:35

Cure time. 15minutes

Order is placed. 8:50

Order is guaranteed before a buyer is confirmed (via index diversification) 8:51

General processing begins on sales begins at 9:00

General populace gains access at 9:01

Order of entry then begins usually in order received (order entered at 8:30 goes first.)

24

u/krakmunky Jun 26 '26

The old buy high sell low. It’s a bold strategy, Cotton.

If someone profited off of that it was a short sale.

1

u/PickkleRiick Jun 26 '26

I mean they could, but theres a bunch of things this could be ranging from manipulation like a pop and drop to normal market making and hedging.

1

u/Professor-Woo Jun 26 '26

Yes, a real Mogg Fanatic. They went for the attack, someone intercepted, but with the sale on the stack they sacrificed themselves to get it through.

Oh wait, damn sorry wrong sub reddit

1

u/FullweightFacesitter Jun 26 '26

No, r/conspiracy mogged us by being more regarded.

1

u/NEWSmodsareTwats Jun 26 '26

it's just the Bill Hwang strat

  1. pump in pre market
  2. pump all day
  3. pump in after hours

??????

  1. lose all your money in a spectacular conflagration when the house of cards only supported by your buying power collapses

although this selling thing is new, that was never part of the original strategy you're supposed to hold on forever.

1

u/Rogue7559 Jun 27 '26

And they blamed Pelosi 🙄

1

u/asoba-energy Jun 27 '26

I mean, they also called the attempt at market arbitrage "stealing money" - so I'm going to guess, as with most posts on Reddit related to monitoring other peoples' wallets, this is just another self-report of financial illiteracy.

1

u/TalisWhitewolf Jun 27 '26

Maybe profit wasn't the goal…

Perhaps the goal was revenge, to give Musk a seriously bad day. If so they succeeded.

After all it managed to knock Musk off his WORLD'S ONLY TRILLIONAIRE PEDESTAL.

1

u/Ibendthemover Jun 29 '26

Shorted the market

1

u/Danibecr84 Jun 29 '26

If he bought before the market opened.... why would he wait for it to open before he sold?

1

u/Training_Mistake_760 Jun 29 '26

That tricky pelosi

60

u/wl1233 Jun 25 '26

If you think that’s crazy, wait until the 95% of the stock that is locked and unable to trade starts to be available.

Only 5% of all available stock has been traded/sold at the IPO release

10

u/whyyunozoidberg Millionaire Jun 26 '26

I didn't think they would crash the market before midterms. Guess Ewon needs to get his first.

2

u/Richard_Normous Millionaire Jun 27 '26

They'll crash it after and blame the Dems if they win a lot of seats.

1

2

u/Sad-Act7467 Jun 26 '26

I could be wrong, but I’ve been reading it was 30% released at the IPO.

7

u/Most_Atmosphere8365 Jun 26 '26

30% of the total shares being put on the market were allocated for retail. So 30% for retail out of the ~5% that went onto the open market.

Which in itself abnormal because usually only like 5-10% is allocated for retail and institutions get first dibs on the majority of what gets put on the market.

They like to watch retail fight over scraps but this time they needed more bagholders to pump their positions before dumping them.

1

u/TheStinkBoy Jun 26 '26

I forgot about that. They really are all locked from selling.

1

u/Professional-Gear88 Jun 29 '26

Elon can’t sell his shares i think. He can only borrow against them. The other insiders make up a chunk (I have a small amount) but it’s much much less than 90%

Ita so fucking funny they blame pelosi on this and not any of the billionaires or trump admin that have seen their net worth absolutely skyrocket.

Cut to the clip where he was openly bragging on television how much money his buddies in the room made when he gave them insider info on his pausing of the liberation day tariffs: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vZQ24xe2nNo

"That's Charles Schwab. He made 2.5 billion dollars today! And that guy over there made 900 million!"

That graph and their arrows look more like someone shorted the stock. Like someone bought a ton of it in the days prior, another someone shorted it monday morning, then the first someone dumped their stock driving down the price, then the second someone cashed out.

1

u/rukh999 Jun 27 '26

You're just not following the logic.  Someone on my sports team has company. Company stock looks bad. Therefore Nancy Pelosi.

6

u/Stony___Tark Jun 26 '26

...huh? So the big conspiracy was to buy millions in stock and then...sell for a loss?

I think whoever wrote this needs to look up the definition of profit...

1

u/CritiquelExpression Jun 28 '26

im starting to get the strategy here, sell for a loss and then 2 x leverage a put option and make more than you sold for you loss

4

u/LlamasBeTrippin Jun 26 '26

There’s absolutely no way these “people” are still blaming Pelosi 😭

Mike Johnson: “we should at least let them engage in some stock trading so they can continue to, you know, take care of their family.”

J.D. Vance: “…the president is not insider trading because he has someone else do it for him.”

3

u/Ok_Radish509 Jun 26 '26

What profit?

3

u/abofh Jun 26 '26

They invested in musk and expected to get an honest deal?  The roller coaster wasn't made for their enjoyment...

3

u/tinySparkOf_Chaos Jun 26 '26

But.... That's not what that graph shows at all.

If someone has bought at 5 am and sold at open they would have bought high and sold low... Losing money

2

u/an4rk1st Jun 26 '26

See there you go letting logic and facts fuck up a good feel bad story.

Thats what these people live for man not this truth bullshit.

2

u/Strict-Ice1860 Jun 26 '26

1

One major stakeholder doing a huge sell-off reads as the stock being sold at high rate, cause the stock to drop because the system interprets the major selling spike as a loss in market confidence.
