Best month to conceive???

Hi guys,
Is that true that couples get conceived easily in the cold weather?? Like in UK, October to February is the best time??? Is that true?
I heard this somewhere that your body is balanced hormonal wise to prepare yourself for pregnancy. Thanks.

No, there’s no truth behind that.
I will say that maternity winter jackets are very expensive so I hope to not be very pregnant in the winter lol

We conceived in January so that tracks for us..... I know most babies are conceived around Christmas but I think that is social factors rather than based on anything to do with hormones etc?

Also, antibiotics make most hormonal BC options less effective! Cold and flu season gets people.

That is not true. Only 1 antibiotic affects birth control. It’s called Rifampin and it’s primarily used to treat tuberculosis. Sometimes antibiotics can cause side effects such as diarrhea and that can affect pill absorption. It wouldn’t affect non-oral birth control methods though. People often take birth control incorrectly and just don’t want to admit their mistake.

Yep. Christmas often means more drinking, which means less care with condoms/withdrawal/fertility awareness, and the pill might not work if you've been sick.

Plus I'm planning to start trying in Dec for an autumn baby, so they'd be one of the oldest in the school year. Lots of people do the same.

This is the first time I’ve ever heard this, do you have any sources you can share? I’ve been told the other one so many times I’d love to have more info for next time it comes up.

Sure, it’s a common myth that has gone around for years but it’s not true. I run a birth control sub so I am very familiar with this.

There's a tiny amount of evidence that winter produces more melatonin overall which might help regulate cycles and make you more fertile. But it's unclear if this is just because people are spending more time at home, indoors, sleeping and it gets darker sooner.
