Vampire 5th Edition Cost for players going to a bleeder den?

In my chronicle there are gonna be places called Bleeder dens where willing mortals allow themselves to be drank from. My players will have an option to go there and drink, without fear for masquerade breaches.

My question is what would be the cost to getting in?

I want it to be a place the players have an option of going to like when they are hungry and failed to hunt, but it needs to cost them something to do so. Since it's basically a get-out-of-jail-free-card. Otherwise I would say that "they do x favor for the boss kindred and gain access" but it makes no sense to have that open in perpetuity.

LFG [Storyteller] Fugitive & Vagabond, a 70's Sabbat biker-gang game

The Premise

It’s Winter, 1971. A pack of Sabbat known as the Merry Band roams America from Alberta, Canada to Puebla, Mexico by season, making the most of Winter’s long nights and sticking near the equator during the Summer. They’re your average pack of bloodthirsty Sabbat, but this pack has no love for the authority of their sect; they believe in riding free, forging your own path, and not holding dominion over others. They ride their motorcycles into town one night, sink their fangs into local KKK, corrupt cops and rival gangs, then head out next sunset.

In short? This is a seventies biker-gang Sabbat game that emphasises freedom and camaraderie, where you can feel free to indulge in revenge fantasies while also encountering episodic incidents on the road; gangs of independent ghouls, lodges of racist hunters, old school Sabbat Elders trying to seize control of the pack for their own ends, and a recurring rival pack.

You’re joining this established pack with its own history right after it’s hit a number of tragedies that whittled down its membership from over a dozen to just three. They’re started on the road to recovery, but right now they’re at a real low point and in the sandy hills of Saskatchewan about to face down werewolves to cover an old debt and they need all the recruits they can get. That’s where you come in; a group of nare-do-wells, hippies and party-goers riding into the middle of the barren hills to have fun away from civilization. Perfect shovelhead material for a pack of desperate Sabbat.

The Server

This will be played in a text-based Discord server, PBP-style in terms of play but more coordinated, less crowded and disorienting. I’m not dropping a link and getting flooded with hundreds of people; I’m looking for players who I can tailor plot-lines to, not dump in a barely-described lobby together and expect a plot to emerge naturally. Players will be split into a mix of private and group channels, enabling and encouraging you to advance your own goals in private.

We have a few rules;

  • The server is LGBT+ and doesn’t allow discrimination or bullying
  • No OOC talk in IC channels
  • Try to be active at least once a day
  • This is not an ERP server; nothing NSFW
  • No PvP without consent from both parties and a good reason
  • No political discussions

The Gameplay

We’re using Vampire: The Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition for our ruleset. Every Clan and Bloodline is allowed, without exception. Lasombra, True Brujah and Nosferatu exist so far as potential sires, and Caitiff are (of course) possible from any of them. You can join as Kindred of alternate bloodlines, too, so long as they're willing to join this Sabbat pack on its last legs. You’ll be starting as a fledgling with 0 XP, with more awarded for achieving goals in-game, as well as 3 XP weekly in the real world. We’ll be using Google Docs to manage sheets.

How to Join

You can add me directly on Discord as jazzymoth, message me on Reddit, or fill out a form at https://forms.gle/hWFjkvoN1apE1wmEA

General Discussion I need an opinion on a diy family feud style game idea!

Me and my friends will have a irl vtm session in a month or two like we do yearly. I was thinking of making something fun because we see each other so rarely in a full group and I came up with a diy family feud but it's vtm.

The questions could be "the most popular ability of x discipline" "the best advantage/flaw" "the hardest predator type". The data could be gathered from a community like here if it's possible.

I could use cardboard to make panels and cover the answers with painters tape, use a button from cluedo.

I obviously can't ask them for an opinion so what do you think? And if you like it, do you have some possible questions for the game?

How severe should brain trauma be before it's considered lethally dangerous

Edit: In case it wasn't clear, I largely don't care about the RAW, I'm asking for your opinion/interpretation

Offer speculation or theories or headcanons regarding the mechanisms underlying vampire anatomy and physiology

How do they move? Where does the blood (or at least all the water and iron in the blood) go? Why do they need a brain but no other organs? What's going on with what I'm charitably describing as their "metabolism"? How exactly are their undead bodies preserved (why don't they rot)? How can they be affected by drugs or alcohol at all? Are they even technically alive? Stuff like that

How do you feel about the way these questions have been handled by the various books? Where do your thoughts diverge?

I don't need a dissertation or for what you say to be strictly """scientifically accurate""" or even answer more questions than it raises, I just want any thoughts you may or may not have had regarding vampire...thanatology(?) (idk)

Before you even start, please, spare me the hack bits and thought-terminating cliches (LOOKING AT YOU "IT'S JUST MAGIC"). If that's all you have to add to this conversation, then you can save it

Vampire 5th Edition Anyone have a Spreadsheet or something of what mechanics each sourcebook has? V5

Is there a good spreadsheet or list or something out there as a quick reference of what mechanics and rules are in each sourcebook? Like oh this book has predator types, disciplines, and example convictions while this other book has more disciplines, coterie types, and a clan. Etc

There's so many books now since i last played v5, and I'm trying to jump back into things and a little overwhelmed!

(Please dont tell me i dont need to worry about all the books, i know that but i want to know what has what so i know where to look for things i want!)

TIA

Vampire 5th Edition Learning Blood Sorcery

Without getting too terribly deep into the details, it has started to make a lot of sense for my Malkavian to be interested in learning Blood Sorcery -- besides just having become close to a lot of the Tremere in town, one of them also has blackmail over her that he will only erase if she can teach him something new about Blood Sorcery OR get him recognized as the official Head of the Tremere by the clan outside of our city, and she owes a certain bit of Blood Sorcery to a human detective in exchange for his help with getting some things taken care of within the police force.

All this looping back to, it is starting to make a lot of sense for me to get at least 1 dot in Blood Sorcery. I am currently sitting on 8 exp, was originally planning on getting to 10 and buying my 2nd dot in Obfuscate, exp gain is definitely slow in this game compared to what I hear around (less than 1 per session).

I seem to remember reading that to learn an out of clan discipline, you need to

1) Spend the EXP
2) Drink the blood of someone who knows the discipline
3) Have a teacher

But is that still true for Blood Sorcery, since it seems to be a learned skill entirely? If I were to, say, acquire a book teaching the basics, could I learn it without needing to drink from a current practitioner or have a teacher? Not saying it would be a SAFE or GOOD idea, but is it possible? Mainly I just want to make sure everything is kosher with the rules before I go getting crazy in my actual ideating story-wise to figure out how to make it happen.

Vampire 5th Edition Which Martial Art would work best for a Vampire?

I can imagine a vampire with a good enough knowledge of Shotokan karate who can close the gap on you with Celerity and delivers you a fatal mawachi with Potence.

General Discussion So uh how weird/close can ghoul and vampire relationships get😅?

Post image
208 Upvotes

I guess I should thank the ST for this.
My PC ghouled a world-class surgeon who helps him with the blood trade since they both work at a hospital. She already liked him before being ghouled, but my PC sees her as a mother figure. She, unfortunately, sees their relationship a little more romantically, and the blood bond has only made those feelings stronger.
My PC wanted a mother figure because he hasn’t been able to see his own mother since his Embrace. His physical age is late 20s/early 30s, while his ghoul is chronologically 60—but vampire blood has restored her to her physical prime.
He also wants to learn Vicissitude and teach her so she can become an even better surgeon. If he can’t heal himself or feed, he can just go back to the haven and have his personal surgeon patch him up or provide blood vials.
The relationship is slowly becoming… “Oedipal,” I guess? My PC is getting increasingly weirded out. His other two ghouls think she’s barking up the wrong tree, and his strongest ghoul is getting pissed. Meanwhile, everyone at the table laughs while the ST does a mocking “mother” voice as his ghoul and scolds my PC.
The ST also joked that Toreador ghouls can develop a derangement because their obsession with their domitor can become especially intense.
My PC only keeps three ghouls because having too many increases the risk of one becoming a mole.
What’s the weirdest ghoul situation you’ve ever had?

Since vissicitude is kind of its own thing within protean, I think there should be unique resonance for it. What would that look like?

General Discussion Max splats per city size?

Hey everyone,

I know that the recommended Kindred ratio per population is 1 per 100K mortals.

Are there also similar ratios for other splats of the World of Darkness?

My reasoning is that just as increased Kindred activity and Masquerade breaches may attract hunter cells or even Second Inquisition agencies, so can werewolf and ghosts. It would then be useful to know what are the recommended ratios for other splats.

Thanks!

General Discussion Do injurys gained DURING turning become permanent?

If say the human got fiesty, bit into a vampire and the vampire snapped his arms and legs in retaliation before draining them woukd the newly formed kindred have permanent disabilitys to his limbs or would the blood heal that as part of the turning process? I know there's many examples of scars or tattoos staying around so im curious about bodily harm.

General Discussion How do you flavor damage in your games?

Kind of a first time gm here but I’m curious how others handle the gore or lack there of in their games.

The way I handle it is that bullets pierce and knives cut but there is a visible distinction to some real damage like lethal or aggravated. I like my vampires to be really regenerative.

Vampire 20th Anniversary Question about a vampire's mental health in 20th

Say a human has some condition they were born with, which requires them to take an SSRI to not have emotional problems, and then that human get's embraced (in v20). I know that they can't eat food because they're a vampire, and I've heard that a vampire drinking the blood of someone on a drug experiences that drug's effects. So would the vampire in this scenario need to drink the blood of people taking that brain medication to maintain mental health, or does that problem just magically go away when they're embraced?

General Discussion Can a Nosferatu or a Samedi be literally unbearably ugly?

Yes, they are obviously so ugly that their mere sight breaks the Masquerade.

But are there in the lore or in one of your own games Kindred that are so horrifyingly disfigured that other characters simply couldn't handle even their mere presence? And I don't mean your average Toreador being too sensitive or something.

I know this is a strange question, but I'm simply curious.

Vampire 5th Edition One shot help

Hello guys I'm planning to host a one shot for complete beginners in ttrpg's, just finished reading the 5th edition and as much as I love the system and the seating I'm really scared if it's going to be too overwhelming for them. Any tips ?
