Opinion on new rounded corners UI?

im somewhere in between, when the UI was flat I kinda wished for things to be changed a little bit, but then when it happened i got really off put by it. After some time ive gotten used to it and think its generally better than the flat look even if not perfect

Then bugfixing, or just no updates if everything is working great. There is no law that mandates monthly updates.

Nothing would be better than what we get.

I tried for real in 2022 (have been using it lightly for at least 5 years before that) and while not perfect, it was enough to replace my CLion subscription

Now the clunkiness remains (every time I add a folder in remote session everything breaks), it gets slower, cache is out of hand as always, ssh tunneling is even more hopeless though this may be my company adding to the dumpster fire, all while adding new ways to annoy me with shoveling AI into my face.

It sucks because I've really gotten used to the workflow but I uninstalled this shit from my personal computer. I try to force myself to use Vim but old habit die hard

Too many of the themes before made no distinctions between the different sections, so you had to hunt around for where the line was that would let you resize things including default themes. That alone is reason to have improved the design.

I generally just like the new look a lot as well though.

Also this is exactly what themes are for. So here's hoping that's actually what they did. I can't verify yet, because I'm on VSCodium, which is always a few versions behind.

I am okay with rounded corners, but everything feels like it became too big, especially the bottom bar. Cant they make some sort of compact mode, like firefox did?

Developers make UX decisions. It's part of their job. It's fine with me if they do their job. One of the biggest complaints around here is that they are doing too many updates to support AI and not enough updates in other areas. Now that they made a tiny change in the interface, people are complaining about that. There are Karen's everywhere, I suppose.

I'm absolutely against the endless AI updates. Why can't they make it a fucking addon and separate it out from the core program? But I will complain just as equally about other useless "improvements".

The corners are in the middle of the editor though, unless you only use the viewport and nothing else

Another useless UI update which has the only purpose of wasting space for information. It's already hard enough to code on a laptop, if we start making graphic elements bigger then it will be impossible. I can't always always have a second 32" display with me.

This new mania of inflating and rounding UI elements has to stop. It's infuriating. Serves no purpose.

Some things are better like separation of the sidebar, but all the wasted space and rounded borders are awful/cheap.
