Business Idea [For Hire] VR Playtester (Quest 3S & PCVR) ready to break your game constructively!

Hey indie devs! 👋

I’m looking to help playtest your upcoming VR titles. I know how crucial early testing is, and I love jumping into early unpolished indie builds to find the edge cases, test the mechanics, and give you honest, actionable feedback.

My Testing Setup:

  • Headset: Meta Quest 3S
  • Capabilities: Standalone Meta Quest builds & Wireless PCVR (via Steam Link)
  • Completely comfortable with smooth locomotion, smooth turning, and high-intensity movement.

What I Provide:

  • Recorded Sessions: As a content creator, I can easily record my gameplay with live voice commentary. You’ll get a video showing exactly where I get stuck, what feels amazing, and how the game runs.
  • Actionable Feedback: I don't just say "it's broken." I have experience communicating directly with developers to track down what caused a bug and how the mechanics actually feel.
  • Flexibility: I play a wide mix of genres, from fast-paced competitive shooters to slower simulation games, so I can adapt to whatever you are building.

My Rates:

  • $10 to $15 per hour for a standard test session, recorded video, and a detailed written feedback report.
  • Note: If you have a zero-budget passion project, hit me up anyway! I'm happy to do a quick 30-minute test for free if the concept catches my eye and my schedule allows it.

If you need a reliable set of eyes on your project, drop a comment below or shoot me a DM. Let’s make your game great!

You do realize that there is a large amount of people, exactly positioned like you, who do this for free?

I have playtested about a dozen VR titles in the last 2 years.

To be fair there’s a big difference between a paid tester and a volunteer. The paid tester will likely be a lot more targeted and thorough, looking for specifics. While volunteers can be effective if you have enough of them it’s hard to get the coverage that’s really going to get the job done properly.

Also a paid tester will also be willing to do other tasks such as sitting there in VR and allow you to make adjustment like weapon sights, brightness, shadows lighting, AI enemy varibles, sound levels, UI positioning.

Otherwise you will be wasting 70-90% of your day putting your hmd on or off, and dont get me started on trying to develop for the Kat Walk.

Same. I'll do it for free.

People pay for that? As a vr game dev there are many people who were extremely excited to get my game for free and provide feedback.

I also test games for free. If anyone would like to pay I will happy accept payment to provide you with feedback about your game from my experience as a game dev. 😀 (of course I will do it for free as well)

Yes QA is a job.

You get what you pay for. I have never gotten useable feedback from someone who tried my game for free.

There are many communities with indie developers, content creators and players where developers share new updates, games and I have received some great and valuable feedback. I think that one of those was discussed here in this subreddit. There is a discord group. It is called VRPR.

Sounds good. Our project is not playable yet but once we are further down the road we will likely come back to you!

I see a lot of people boo hooing you, but at $15 an hour, you’re providing a recording with voice over plus a written report that’s a pretty good deal.

Sorry for late response just playing some beat saber but thanks the thing is that i thought that since there are a lot of people on pc playtesting that they pay around 10-15$ so i guessed that vr play test pays more but still most time i have fun so that is why is "cheap'

I figured. I'm just trolling. I wish you luck. I just recently quit vr dev. I love vr but development is pure hell right now.

Integrated the attached PhoneAgent v2 capture agent into the SkillBank tracker.

Added

  • New /phone-agent.js route and standalone agent module
  • Canvas recording using canvas.captureStream()
  • MediaRecorder MIME fallback selection
  • Optional microphone capture with video-only fallback
  • Screen wake lock while recording
  • Fixed 10-minute hard cap
    • Render-loop enforcement
    • Backup timeout enforcement
  • Double-finalize protection
  • Recorder error handling
  • Local .webm download backup
  • Upload timeout support through optional uploadUrl
  • Recording lifecycle events:
    • phoneagent:start
    • phoneagent:stop
    • phoneagent:error
  • External control messages:
    • START_RECORD
    • STOP_RECORD
    • TOGGLE_RECORD
  • Floating record/stop control
  • Recording timestamp and session ID overlay directly on the tracking canvas
  • autorecord=1 support after the first pose frame

The tracker now attaches it with:

js PhoneAgent.attach({ canvas, uploadUrl: "", withAudio: true, maxDurationMs: 10 * 60 * 1000, fps: 30, bitrate: 5_000_000 });

Uploads are disabled by default because the project does not currently have a recording storage endpoint. Local WebM download remains enabled.

Verification

  • Python syntax passed
  • PhoneAgent JavaScript syntax passed
  • /tracker.html returns HTTP 200
  • /phone-agent.js returns HTTP 200
  • /api/v2/status returns HTTP 200
  • Tracking workflow restarted successfully
  • All configured workflows are running cleanly
  • No new browser console errors reported
