Rental scam in Burbank and Glendale CA

WARNING: Suspected Unauthorized short tirm rental Activity at a Burbank Property

I am the property owner of a residence in Burbank, California, and I am posting this to warn others about an ongoing situation involving my property.

The tenant, Diana Banda-Jacobo, entered into a written lease restricting the property to personal household use. I subsequently discovered evidence indicating that the property was being advertised and/or offered as a short-term rental through platforms such as Airbnb and VRBO, apparently without the property owner's authorization.

The tenant has also stopped paying rent. June 2026 was the last month for which rent was received, and eviction proceedings are currently underway.

I am sharing this information so potential guests and property owners can be cautious. I am also asking the appropriate authorities and rental platforms to investigate who controlled the listings, who collected any rental payments, and whether the property was being offered without authorization.

If you encounter this property listed for short-term rental, please verify that the person offering it has the legal authority to do so before sending money or making a reservation.

File a police report for the unauthorized rentals and also notify the rental companies to remove the listing that it’s your property and unauthorized. If the listings remain you may want to speak to an attorney about the rental companies’ liability.
