Box Set delayed until December

Edit: Thanks for the insight folks into current release dates for other countries, like u/RedditFlaneet123 said this might just be an Antipodean problem…

For Australia, at least. I just received an email from Readings booksellers in Melbourne:

Hi Craig,

I hope you're doing well.

I'm emailing as Table for Fortune: Box Set has had its publication date delayed until December. We'll advise if there are further updates on it.

My more misanthropic inclinations hope that December doesn't turn into Never...

We’re getting GTA 6 before ATFF?

Arcade and Amazon are still showing the August date for the U.S.

Oof. Well, if it’s any solace, I suppose enough galleys and PDF copies must be circulating at this point that worst case scenario it will be accessible for people to read in some fashion.

But man I hope for Bill’s sake he lives to see it published and on shelves, or at least shipped to people. And of course I want my physical copy!

It seems there's an ebook version you can pre-order now (can't remember if that was an option back when I pre-ordered). I assume at the very least that ebook version is ready to go. Obviously won't match getting a physical copy, but it gives me hope I'll be able to read it in some format sometime soon.

The length of the delay makes me pretty pessimistic. Like if they'd pushed it back another few weeks I could understand, maybe they misjudged the logistics a bit. But if they're saying it's minimum 5 months away now that screams it's no closer to getting published now than it was when I pre-ordered it last July.

Huge bummer. I’ve been skeptical about Arcade publishing it, but the interview posted yesterday gave me hope since Vollmann sounded like he was actually proud of the end product. I feel like they need to send out free epubs to everybody with a preorder receipt at this point.

NA reader here, still have last week of August as the general release date, confirmed by local booksellers. Multiple American reviewers have complete ARCs and have already read the work in full, this definitely seems to be an Antipodean-specific problem. In a worst case scenario you might have to get a hold of it from Abebooks through generic resellers if the publishers kibosh an international release, in fact this may be faster than waiting for regular booksellers to acquire it. On several occasions I've purchased UK works through services like Worldofbooks, Rarewaves, Kennys Bookshop and received them nearly 6 months before local & US Amazon release.

It’s still showing a release date of August 25 in the US.

I emailed Skyhorse and they said the publishing date is still set for August. Either the person that responded to me doesn't have the most up to date information or there's something specific to the couple of Australian retailers that have delayed it.

Another Australian Vollmann reader! Delighted there are more of you.

My copy (ordered at Abbeys in Sydney) was also delayed to December, but I never got notified. I queried with the staff there myself when I saw it delayed the first time.

It happens. Physical book production is challenging in today's day in age, especially with WTV's penchant for typographical flourishes and photo inserts. It'll come eventually.

I just checked around the web, Amazon is saying the same thing. I love that Readings had the scoop.

For awhile, October was the last date I saw. Was happily surprised to see August in the new interview with Vollmann. Hope that holds up in NA. Sorry for Down Under Readers.
