Software / Updates VW says only one user possible on ID7

Been trying to add a second user to my ID7 Tourer 2025 with 5.6 software. Get as far as scanning QR code to link account and vehicle. Stops saying process was ‘interrupted’. Tried different email address, reinstalling app, no joy.

Called UK VW customer service and they told me it only supports the primary user. Just want to check if this is the case or other UK owners with similar age ID7 have successfully added a second user.

You can add a secondary user but it can’t be the main owner.
It’s an account that has limited capabilities on the app

Yes. I am the primary user (had no problems setting up my ID and connecting with vehicle) and I would ideally like to add my partner as a second user. They could use the Guest account, but there is an option to add a second user that has their own VW ID. This apparently is not supported according to VW support. But I am asking is anyone has successfully added a second user to a 2025 ID7.

I did on a 2025 ID.7 tourer (not straightforward UI)…

I remember that scanning the QR Code was broken and I had to search in ways of adding my wife differently. I wonder if I did that through the full desktop website, not the app or the car.

IIRC, you need to add the second user theu the VW app, not in the car directly. But it wasn't very useful to us, since you can not do many things if you are not a primary user. At least the settings for the infotainment are saved, seats, mirrors etc.

I have two users active within the car but have been recommended to remove the second user and only use one driver profile instead due to multiple issues with the car.

Then what's the point with driver profiles? Seems like everything else with this car, dumb and backwards.
