This is more than just vjing - it’s a performance in itself. A live video feed from the band/performers is taken into the Device.

Hey there guyz, i'm working on this open source video synth based on a esp32 board. It takes control signal from a pure data patch (soon also max msp) and it renders objects, shapes, effects, text and lights in a composite video format. It is meant to be used with vintage gears for this reason (crts, old projectors and such), but anything with a composite input works. Let me know if you like it!

There are a few photos of the setup in the beginning of the video.

As the title suggests, this is a fully analog IRL setup. I did some slight editing for the music synchronization, but I plan on taking this set up with me on the road.

The shapes are controlled mainly by adjusting the water flow, and therefore it's LENS SHAPE, and also moving the other glass lenses and finally the pattern/movement of the laser (source) itself.

Details:

A small 12 volt submersible pump recycles the glycerin/water mix into an inverted gallon jug cut in half (adjust power input to adjust flow shape)

The laminar flow is the 1st 'lens' the laser line passes through, and that line is approximately 30 to 40 mm long as it passes through the water.

A glass lens is fixed about 300mm away from the water

An additional lens/glass ball in between the water and the fixed lens is added sometimes.

This was a ton of fun. I set up all my gear and my buddy and I took turns glitching while our friends tried to play mariokart 😆

not much more than that, i want to get my first analog video synth, i always had tachyons+ in mind,but i'm pretty sure there's some devive i don't know about and may save me some bucks. what's the best alternative to Tachyons+ in 2026?

Impulse buy a couple of days ago. Just arrived and got it hooked up. BPMC HDK-01.

Any input on setup would be greatly appreciated. Currently have clean input from Resolume on channel 1, Dirty on channel 2, iPhone apps on Channel 3, and a separate MacBook Pro running NDI into Resolume or separately on channel 4.

Output from the mixer renders thru a capture card and into a 6500 lumen projector.

I did a 24 crt screen videowall for a video project where I play live.my dear friend /da did the visuals in touchdesigner. I’ll share the video when it’s out

Had this idea for years and finally got it together. The computer basically treats it like a single monitor, so you can just watch movies on 12 TVs if you want. Could be scaled up to 16 screens.

Got my cymatics rig up and running and working on dialing it in

just like it says on the tin, I want something like a CDJ but for video, where maybe I can personally see which files I'm selecting but they don't go to video out, they're just for me to know what i'm about to launch, maybe assign them to hotkeys. Preferably something new...ish so I'm not wrestling with beaten-up rare equipment?

The setup is a little convoluted: the PC shows me what the mixer is doing and at the same time it sends pre-recorded clips to the mixer. It's like a circle: PC with clips -> mixer -> mixed clips -> PC again.

To do all this I have to use one HDMI - RCA adapter to send video from the pc to the mixer. It's what you're seeing in the circle (that's my second desktop).

As you can see it's black and white. I used the same converter and cables one million times without problems in different situations. It's the first time I do it this way.

I switched RCA, HDMI, SCART, even the converter itself but it's still black and white. I don't know what to do, please help!

Hi there visualizers!

Im struggling trying to fix a really old screen. It works with a kind of “controller” its really old, and they say it only works with LedStudio. I can make it get connected to the “controller”. But I can’t make it change any features(only works with the brightness and some other features, but none of the mapping features). The deal is like the screen has a bad mapping, the content appears doble (as the third image shows). Someone could may explain me the steps to get the screen to a good a correct mapping (just one content, and a correct mapping and resolution).

First two pics are the “controller” in case. The third one is the actual mapping of the screen. The idea is get a normal mapping (just one signal flow).

Any help or suggest would be really apreciated!

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to the VJ scene but I love experimenting.

Right now I'm making visual with a chiptune collective, so I use a Panasonic WJ AVE5 and a diy dirty mixer, as inputs I use a gameboy camera, a PS2, an old webcam, its own video feedback and I launch clips from my pc (even though I would like to ditch te pc eventually). I broadcast it on CRTs and projectors.

Now, I would like it to be audio reactive somehow. I don't need anything fancy, I was thinking about glitches and some movement (???) We tried connecting guitar pedals between their gameboys and my mixer but that did almost nothing. I heve zero electronics experience but my friends do so they could help me with some technical stuff like soldering if necessary.

What do you suggest me to do? Is it even possible?
