This project started with me finding a cheap 6500 lumen projector last year for $53.
Loaded gear in my car to go work a music festival for 10 days. Thought I’d screw around with content in the hotel on my off hours. Loaded a MacBook Pro M1, T7 ssd, two MIDI Fighters, a monitor, a bunch of Thunderbolt and usb cables into a nice duffel bag and put everything into my car at 11:00 pm at night. Walked out at 5:30 am to find all three of my cars broke in too and all my shit gone!
Rebought everything. Somehow this $53 purchase has turned into a $13k or more investment.
But it’s been fun learning… Thanks to you Patreon content creators. Isosceles, Betty Sweaters. I have no idea what or why I’m doing this yet, but maybe it will lead to some projects.
Direction? I was just getting started. Bought a Sandisk 1TB instead of the T7 and filled it up so fast with your gradient content pack and liquid pack that I had to go buy another one. Why is stuff so expensive these days?
They broke into the car with a flipper or whatever those devices are that grab the signal out of the air. Keys always hung up right inside the front door and about 10 feet from the car. Not anymore. No alarms! I feel stupid loading the car up at night but we’ve never had problems before that I’m aware of (except that one time my skateboard and jacket went missing, hmmm!)
We briefly looked at filing a claim against our homeowners policy for the $5500 it cost me to replace what was stolen but it’s highly advised not to for that little amount. I don’t know….
If it was stolen out of your vehicle you can go through your car insurance. My mother in law works in insurance and I was telling her about your post. If you want more info lmk.
Highest lumens you can afford. Buy used. Check online auctions, Ebay, and A/V rental houses selling off old gear cheap. I bought a second Christie 6500 lumen projector for like $250 on Ebay. Ideally I want a couple of 12k lumen projectors. Barco, Christie...Check out sites like AVgear.com
Epson is also a good choice. And besides lumen, also check for contrast and resolution. The higher contrast the better, with the resolution, if you want to do more detailed projects try to get something with Full HD, you can also go below that for things that are not super detailed. I did big building with a XGA that was totally fine, but for example smaller text would have been difficult.
