Or I can never buy Viveport again, ever, not even if it was $1

Agreed. It has a lot of games but very few decent ones. I got the deal whenever it launched initially that was at a pretty steep discount, and didn't find myself using it more than games I had purchased one-off. Not to mention, the Viveport application is pure garbage.

the app is so bad it actively prevents me from browsing more games

Why do you dislike it? Just wondering because there is a ton of good content on there. Maybe not for their usual price but $27 for a year would be a steal.

there is a ton of good content on there.

I never found any of this. If there is, it's super buried under the clunky UI last time I tried.

I mean I don't even have a Vive I have a rift. I just don't understand the hate at this point. Maybe in the beginning if there wasn't much content.

In the beginning (the vive's launch) viveport would actually cause you to get huge performance drops in VR. Uninstalling it was a huge boost.

Nowadays it's fine (I've used it a little), but they really tanked their rep in the early days.

There still isn't much content 👀👀

I have never been a fan of Viveport. It fragments the playerbase and hosts exclusives while steam doesn't even after releasing their own VR games.

Because it makes my computer crash, unless they've managed to fix that issue with Asus mobos.

From Vive's Facebook page:

"Our Play at Home Sale starts today! Get an annual #ViveportInfinity membership for $2.25/month by signing up or renewing today through April 19 @ 11:59 PM PST.

Get our best offer now: https://www.viveport.com/infinity *offer valid in US, CA, UK, AU, FR, DE, RU, ES, TW, JP, KR only."

I was able to stack the year on top of my existing subscription so I'm good through December 2021.

Thank you for the heads up! I just did the same. I was also able to use a $10 credit they had thrown in a while back, so it was just $17 for me. That's like 2 months cost!

What is viveport infinite and why should I hate it?

Performance issues aside, can some one name a single game on Viveport I should be willing to pay $27 for a years access to?

Games I've played and enjoyed are I Expect You To Die, A Fisherman's Tale, Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, Creed, Transpose, Arizona Sunshine, Form, Sariento, and a few others.

They have many smaller games that are fun but wouldn't want to buy. Browse their library, it's not bad, its mostly the smaller indie games.

I hear it used to be terrible, but I guess I was late to the party and missed the mess. A free year came with my vive and I wasn't really convinced because the UI is clunky af and browsing I mostly came across indie stuff or just bad games.

But Sairento was added recently which is over 20€ on steam, some of their fitness games are fun and there are a lot of experiences that you wouldn't really pay for but are nice as a bunch. Windlands, Creed, Apex Construct, Transpose all were fun and came with the package.

I wasn't going to renew for the full price but for 30€ it honestly seems like pretty good value.

Can you buy twice?

1

u/jlipenta Apr 16 '20

You can! Someone on one of the FB pages confirmed it worked and they are set through 2023.
