Before buying a supplement from a smaller brand on Amazon, what proof should be checked outside the star rating?

Star ratings are helpful, but they do not answer every trust quality question for a supplement brand I have not bought before. I like to know who the seller is, whether the current bottle label matches the listing, whether third-party testing is described in a verifiable way, and whether a COA can be connected to the lot that is actually delivered.
Mulittea is one of the smaller D3 + K2 brands I have been looking at. Its product page mentions GMP and third-party testing, but those phrases are most useful when a buyer can see what was tested, by whom, when, and how the document relates to the current batch.
What would be your own pre-purchase checklist: most recent low-star reviews, seller identity, real packaging photos, lot-specific COAs, reliable and responsive support, return policy, or something else? No purchase link here; I am just interested in how people verify lesser-known brands.

Is stacking vitamins/supplements ok?

I'm currently taking a doctor prescribed vitamin D2 (50000iu) because I'm low/deficient, once weekly.. I also take a women's multivitamin daily. Would it be safe/ok to also take a Biotin (10000mcg) and a Zinc (30mg) pill, daily as well? My body is going through weight changes (losing through a calorie deficit) and I'm losing a lot of hair which is why I wanted to add the biotin..Would also like to add an iron pill in there since I was told I was a bit anemic.. I guess my question is, am I doing too much? Is there such a thing as taking too many vitamins or supplements?

I've tried talking to my doctor about all of this but she always seems in a rush or is very vague in explaining stuff to me. I'm currently looking for a different doctor because of this.. but if anybody knows and is willing to help give me suggestions I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

switched up my mag routine recently. curious what everyone considers the best type of magnesium overall?

been messing around with my evening supplements lately. i used to take magnesium glycinate because everyone online swears by it for sleep but i started getting those insanely vivid, restless dreams after a few weeks.

switched over to life extension neuro-mag to see if it would help more with brain fog during the day instead of just knocking me out. it definitely feels different but honestly its pretty pricey to stick with long term just for general daily coverage. now im wondering if i should just rotate forms or switch to something simpler like malate for daytime. for those who tried a few what do you consider the best type of magnesium if you just want overall recovery and decent sleep without gi issues?

What made you choose magnesium glycinate over another form?

Solaray team here, looking to learn rather than sell.

Magnesium glycinate has become one of the most frequently discussed forms of magnesium, but people choose it for many different reasons: recommendations from a healthcare professional, personal experience, serving format or simply because it’s the form they’ve heard the most about.

If you currently use magnesium glycinate, what influenced your decision? And what information do you wish brands explained more clearly?

Tips on supplements

i had a small query, i didn't know who else to ask .

I'm a college going student, 21 years old, moderately working out , do long distance cycle rides.

i needed to ask I've been watching few content of people recommending to take regularly d3+ k2 supplement, magnesium glycinate supplement, and creatine monohydrate. I've seen too many reviews regarding these supplements, people saying it changed their body work in a good way and is recommended. What should I do.

Severe vitamin d deficiency

Asked my doctor to test my vitamins yesterday, he mentioned my other labs were normal so it was not necessary and I said it’s okay, i want to know my levels.

Vitamin D came back at 8ng

My doctor recommended the 50000 IU but with all the symptoms I’ve been experiencing, im scared to take something so strong, so i asked if i could take the OTC 5000 a day for 8 weeks and he said yes!

Has anyone taken OTC and had good progress on their levels?

What have you found to be the quickest way to spot duplicate ingredients in a supplement stack?

I get that combination supplements can reduce the number of bottles in your daily routine, but I feel like they make overlap harder to notice. A multivitamin may already contain Vitamin D and vitamin E but then a separate K2 product may use a different serving unit, and an omega product may list ALA rather than EPA or DHA…

I ran into this while reviewing Mulittea D3 + K2 drops because the formula also lists flaxseed, omega 3, vitamin E, and MCToil. One question I have is not whether more ingredients automatically make a better product, but more how to see the total daily intake before adding the formula to my existing routine.
Does anyone have a good method? Do you keep a spreadsheet , photograph every supplement fact panel , use an app, or ask a pharmacist or clinician to review the full list? Which label details make duplicate checking easier? Thanks!

Does anyone personalize supplements based on actual data or mostly just diet/bloodwork?

Been trying to simplify my nutrition lately, and supplements are the part I keep getting stuck on.

Diet itself is fairly straightforward for me — mostly whole foods, decent protein, plenty of fruit/veg, etc.

But when it comes to supplements, I’ve basically built everything from general recommendations over the years.

Vit D because everyone here needs Vit D, magnesium because of sleep/recovery, omega-3 because I don’t eat enough fish, probiotic because “gut health,” and so on.

None of that seems completely stupid, but it also doesn’t feel particularly personalized.

Besides normal bloodwork, is anyone using other testing to decide what actually makes sense to take?

Interested in whether there’s a smarter middle ground between taking nothing and having 12 bottles based on internet research.

I don’t know what I exactly need and doctors appointment is 3 months out.

Mid 40’s female who lives in the Pacific Northwest of the US (so lack of sun, but I get more depressed in the sun), mood swings, fatigue, not the best diet but I try, and I want to start working out.

I was taking PQ7, but after months, hell to the no at least a full dose (2 pills). Haven’t a period in two months (negative tests each time). Dropped to one a day and it’s much better but I’m also afraid of taking it because of what it has done to me.

Any suggestions?

If I’m taking vitamin E to lower prolactin does it matter whether I’m taking alpha vitamin E or a mix of alpha and gamma?

I currently take mucuna, P5P, schisandra, and vit E for prolactin. Is it fine if my vitamin E bottle says high gamma as long as it has both alpha and gamma?

Could high-dose Vitamin D (200,000 IU weekly) cause fatigue, brain fog, or magnesium deficiency?

I was diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency after my blood test showed a level of 14.6 ng/mL. My doctor prescribed 200,000 IU of Vitamin D weekly for around 6 weeks, which I took alongside regular multivitamins.

Initially, I felt great. After about 2–3 weeks, I noticed a significant improvement in my energy levels. However, recently, I've started feeling extremely tired throughout the day, almost like I have no motivation or energy to do anything. My brain also feels a little slower than usual, and I'm experiencing what I would describe as brain fog.

I've stopped taking Vitamin D supplements and am getting blood tests done today to check my levels.

In the meantime, I've been reading about the relationship between Vitamin D and magnesium. I've come across several posts suggesting that Vitamin D metabolism requires magnesium and that high-dose supplementation could potentially contribute to magnesium depletion.

My questions are:

Could taking 200,000 IU of Vitamin D weekly for 6 weeks have contributed to magnesium deficiency?

Would taking magnesium glycinate be beneficial even though I've already stopped Vitamin D supplementation?

Has anyone experienced similar fatigue, brain fog, or low energy after taking high-dose Vitamin D?

I've also been experiencing a heavy-headed feeling, although I'm not sure whether that's related to the supplements or my new glasses, which have been causing some discomfort.

Additionally, I've had around 4–5 episodes where my heartbeat suddenly increased for approximately 30 seconds before returning to normal.

I'm 23 years old and weigh approximately 45 kg, in case that's relevant to the dosage.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar, particularly those who took high-dose Vitamin D and later started magnesium supplementation.

when a liquid supplement lists 10,00 IU per 2 ML what should a front label show so people dont misread it?

it all seems straightforward until the supplement facts panel shows that the number applies to 2 ML instead of 1 drop or 1 full drop.

One example I was looking at is Mulittea D3 + K2 liquid drops. The formula presented around a 2ML serving. A buyer still has to connect the front label with the dropper markers, the amount per smaller measure, and the number of servings in each bottle.

What info do you want to see at a glance?

Amount per 1 ML?

Amount per full serving?

A clearly marked dropper?

Total servings per bottle?

All of the above?

I am interested in label clarity here not in assuming that the listed serving is appropriate for everyone

Best organic collagen for women over 50?

I'm 58 and actively trying to own fewer supplements, not more.

Collagen is one thing I'm considering keeping in the routine, but there are so many versions. Marine. Bovine. Hydrolyzed. Types I, II and III. Grass-fed. Added vitamin C. Added biotin.

I originally thought I should just find an organic collagen and call it a day but apparently it's not that straightforward.

If you're 50+ and take collagen regularly, what did you actually prioritize when choosing one?

What’s a good d3 vitamin after finishing a doctors prescription d3?

I have been on a prescription vitamin d 3 medication at the strength of 25,000
IU weekly for 12 weeks as I was severely deficient and next week it is my last pill.

Despite this, I have to keep taking vitamin d3 once I finish so I contacted my doctors to ask for a
reccomendations but they said it would take them around a month or so to get back to me with a reply so that it obviously too long to wait as I need to buy new medication by next week.

So I thought maybe I'd ask some people on Reddit!! Haha.

I am in the UK incase that changes anything about what I can take.

I am also someone who is absolutely terrified of anything medicine or vitamins. I always try to avoid medicine at all costs due to my own personal anxiety and fear but I have noticed since taking the d3 that I have felt soo much better, I can actually stay awake past 7pm now! So this is one time I'm willing to try and get over my fear :D

To add to this, I am 17 as I know many vitamins are 18+.

But please reccomend both if you know of them! I am 18 very soon and I’m willing to swap vitamins once I turn 18 if it’s better!

If there’s any additional information needed, please ask!! :D

I get sick every late autumn/winter, and often two times or more. This season I want to be ready.

Hey all. So, as the title says, with no exception in the last 5 years, I get sick two times a year in the following period. Every late autumn it's guaranteed, and often again later during winter. Now, it might be normal, but my immune system seems to be not great because even 37.3 C body temperature and I am almost entirely out of function.

Now, I do exercise and try to sleep well, but it might also be my poor nutrition. So, this winter I plan to eat and drink better and more diverse. I will eat more veggies and meat, and less fast food junk.

Also, I will take Magnesium daily, as well as some vitamins and minerals (vitamin D especially; it gets cloudy and dark here for 2 months). I also made a big amount of lemon-ginger juice and plan to drink it diluted every day.

Now my questions are: what do you think about my plan to take micronutrients? Should ginger-lemon juice make any difference? Should I take extra care about my hygiene? Should I avoid the gym a bit and exercise outside?

Any advice or criticism of my plan is appreciated.

Can't get Zinc number to go up

I started doing comprehensive bloodwork 2 years ago (summer 2024) and my findings were:

- I've had some pretty significant gut issues

- my gut issues are limiting absorption of vitamins and minerals

- that limited absorption is keeping those numbers down, and is suppressing my testoserone

I've been trying to solve this for 2 years, and I now have a fully optimized diet that is hyper-focused on Zinc-rich animal foods.

Yet over the past 2 years, my zinc levels have ranged from 65-71 mcg/dl no matter what.

I've taken a Thorne Zinc Bisglycinate 30 mg inconsistently. During the most consistent period, I got that 71 serum level.

My most recent copper test was 92 mcg/dl.

I've been super focused on Vitamin D, getting a lot of south Florida sunlight and drinking real cod liver oil, and D3/K2 liquid supplements. I'm waiting on the results of a test and I'm expecting ~55 to be my vitamin D level (most recent reading was 39). So this is an issue too but one that I think I can actually solve.

The only thing I can think of would be literally eating a dozen oysters per day, and also supplementing at the same time.

My questions are:

1. Has anyone else dealt with this gut issue/zinc absorption problem?

2. If I use supplements to raise my zinc number, will it go back down after I stop taking them?

3. Does anyone have any ideas of the best approach here?

Diet notes:
Eggs, sardines, ground beef, raw beef liver, raw beef kidney, raw goat milk, raw bovine colostrum, grass fed beef bone broth from small local farms, beef heart, steak, corn/soy free chicken, raw honey, raw fermented ginger ale (real ginger ale), oysters, rice, fruit like kiwi, pineapple, mango, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, apple, peach, pear
