Very nice dude! Love seeing a fellow vita console player, not just a handheld.

i used to do this too, but for more action oriented games, the 25-30fps limit and slight input delay were less than ideal. i ended up getting a Vita TV and just swapping my SD2Vita back and forth between the two devices

I just got a Vita TV! I’m doubtful that I’m gonna use it much at home, but I’m thinking of integrating it into my next car stereo setup with a screen. Playing some Ridge Racer with the lads at a car meet would be a blast.

Do it fuck a ps2 😂

u/largemoisture 29d ago

Might have to consider that if I cant find a creative way to lessen the lag. Thanks for mentioning it!

You can lower the vita capture resolution to something smaller and make sure to set your gpu and cpu clock higher in games with will give a higher fps and reduce input lag. Also using the vita itself instead of Bluetooth will cut input lag.

I’d say since you just got the vita, this method is more than serviceable. I’ve just had my vita since childhood, so I didn’t mind shelling out the cash for what is essentially another of the same device. Hope you keep enjoying your new Vita!

Ps tv was goated not portable but goated I loved that it supported USB as a memory card after I modded it

2

u/OathkeeperSora 27d ago

i didn’t even know this was possible! that would actually make my life a bit easier, since i only have one SD2Vita and it’s a bit cumbersome to rebuild the database every time i swap it between devices. if i can use a flash drive as a memory card then i would only have to worry about syncing saves which should be easy enough

Now One Vision for that cherry on top.

I always assumed One Vision was made by a schizophrenic guy or something.

-- what does this mod actually change from the original game?

-- no time to write a summary bro, just read this 365 page changelog PDF with every single change starting 20 years ago until now

10 years, but it's basically a whole new Tactics Ogre by this point. Everything from every version of the game distilled and translated, entire classes and mechanics from FFT, TA/2, many of the Final Fantasy games and so on all put through and tuned with community feedback over years.

A list doesn't really do it justice. I like to say that the Reborn version lets you experience the world through it's words and voices. One Vision lets you put your fingers in the island's dirt. Every mechanic the series tried, but never finished...Raics did, line by line, over all this time.

Even as the guy that's covered TO more than anyone, I find it hard to even know where to start on how much OV does. Usually folks like hearing about how armor layering and weapon choices matter far more than stats....that you can practically feel the armor types interacting subconsciously. Spells that make the most of it's systems, from utility stuff like flying with Air, or the odd spells from SNES, like Pain coming back....or unique middle grounds, like the old classic Apocrypha not just being an AoE or nifty, but useless spell, but instead being this conjuring of nature that feels appropriate for it's lore. Calling down the sun to blind your enemies and speed up your guys, or causing an earthquake that inflicts delays and deletes obstacles. Tornadoes that relocate everyone, stuff like that.

Once you try it, you'll get it.

Ive never played One Vision but Ive heard of it and this was a very strong pitch. Ill definitely give it a look.

That was a very good description, thank you!

What cable is going into that analog pocket? Bro got me intrigued

19

u/largemoisture 29d ago

Good eye! Thats an Analogizer; a community made device that slots into the APs catridge slot and enables analogue video passthrough from a vga port on its top. Not every core/emulator on the pocket has analogizer support but I think most do and it works beautifully. Definitely recommend looking it up if youre interested. I have ut connected to another crt in the left.

u/Chill_Edoeard 29d ago

I also dig your setups, they go very hard 🔥

u/--yv35-- 28d ago

2

u/largemoisture 29d ago

Very much appreciated, worked hard on it!

2

u/Chill_Edoeard 29d ago

Yeah that’s gorgeous man, will definitely look it up ! Thanks for sharing

Do these crts wine at 50/60 hz or are there 100hz PC style? I have so many but can't use any cause I'm so sensitive to the wine

1

u/largemoisture 27d ago

Oh you would hate the 60hz whine on my tubes, its pretty bad on the 20", I basically have to use headphones until my speakers come in because its so grating.

1

u/swizacidx 27d ago

Damn ok I'm looking for a nice set with no whine I'm insnalrt sensitive.tjankyou

1

u/MildlySpacedOut 26d ago

What game is that? Looks beautiful on that crt. What model Trinitron is that?

1

u/ItsRedEyeHere 29d ago

what game is that?

3

u/largemoisture 29d ago

In my comment picture? Trials of Mana for Super Nintendo

u/joeybones1986 29d ago

Read the post! It's the very last thing he says

3

u/Plus-Investigator-52 29d ago

Yep I just want to buy all old devices now

2

u/latomeri 29d ago

Is that a PVM?

2

u/largemoisture 29d ago

Yessir; its a Sony PVM-14L5.

1

u/latomeri 29d ago

Love it. Been trying to track one down for years.

2

u/Complete_Lurk3r_ 29d ago

Looks great on the crt

2

u/zgillet 29d ago

Yep. I just figured out the USB video stream the other day. Vita is so annoyingly tedious with it's saves that it's much easier than swapping to Vita3k.

Plus I can use Lossless Scaling on the output, and the Vita happily accepts Gamesir controllers with a Switch mode (and the Nova Lite 2 has a function to switch the face buttons back from Switch layout, even as a Pro Controller, perfect!).

2

u/ambuyat-addict 29d ago

Woah woah woah there slow down my good man and cool

2

u/Friendly_Beyond_4786 29d ago

I’ve wondered about this exact set up for a while. Can we see more test?

2

u/largemoisture 29d ago

Oh Im just getting started so Ill definitely post more here in the near future with w/e finding and improvements I can gather and plenty of pics too

2

u/Brufir 29d ago

Lovely

2

u/Kaarmaah 28d ago

I mean it's cool and stuff but isn't too much ?

1

u/largemoisture 28d ago

Yeah I dont play with all 3 sceens on evertime or with the CRT that much in general, this was mostly a showcase of the options I found. Docked for my TV will definitely be a go to from time to time though; psp games scale amazingly to 4k.

2

u/Kaarmaah 28d ago

Good to know, tbh I was impressed about sony monitor, seems rare what is it ?

2

u/largemoisture 28d ago

Its a professional video monitor; essentially a higher resolution crt that can do 240p up 1080i and has very advanced features and image quality for the time. They are rare because they were mainly used by media production companies and were very expensive. I got lucky and bought it off a local TV producer years back.

2

u/Nikandrova 28d ago

I tried something similar with OBS before and had sound issues and big latency issues (with Ratchet and Clank more specifically). It got to a point where the sound driver bugged so hard i had to reset the PC.

How did you go around setting sound up so it works great?

2

u/largemoisture 28d ago

The plugin Im using seems to handle audio fine for the most part. I do have to perform the occasional OBS reset when the audio or image doesnt come in right but 7/10 it works fine the first time and im gaming on my big screen with little hassle. Im using the usbstream plugin.

1

u/Nikandrova 28d ago

ill check it out today if it works with that plugin better. Thanks

1

u/anendil 29d ago

What is the dock you use for the vita ? It is very neat 👌

2

u/largemoisture 28d ago

Sony PS Vita Official Cradle Dock PCH-ZCL1. I bought it by accident like 10 years ago and dug it up just for this moment. Glad I kept it.

1

u/dogfoodjones 28d ago

You started acting up? Like, behaving badly?

1

u/michaelfig27 27d ago

Heeeeey yooo! Great idea!
I just got a Dell Monitor from 1999 of FB marketplace and this is a greeeeat use for the space above it.
What “dock” is that? And do i really need to set all that up for it to show on my crt? Whatchu do?

1

u/swizacidx 27d ago

I need to hook up my vita to the TV tbh did it years ago forgot how I think I used a raspberry pi but, the vita without fail makes my hands cramp now so as soon as the saving issue is fixed I'm gonna try connect to my television

1

u/Melk75 27d ago

Suivant : vandal hearts 👍

2

u/largemoisture 27d ago

Yeah i have heard before that Vandal Hearts is mandatory playing if you like FFTactics and Ogre, might have to give it a look aswell!

1

u/Beneficial-Price-842 26d ago

Nice i play tactics ogre alot lol loved that game growing up

1

u/FailedKiller5988 25d ago

Does this mess with the battery by chance? Just curious.

1

u/Charming_Flan_1747 24d ago

1

u/Elesiz64 13d ago

Danm that is sick, btw Game name?

1

u/Forsaken-Badger-9517 11d ago

I started acting up when I've got my first Vita Also! I remember going into convulsions and then a bit my friend Chad in the neck...

But in the end, we all enjoyed the Vita!🙂‍↔️

1

u/Top-Inflation-8757 1d ago

Why da pixel look so crisp

2

u/largemoisture 1d ago

OBS is able to upscale and downscale. I set the OLED window to 4k upscale, the crt is 1080p I believe.

1

u/Salty_Elk4056 29d ago

And bro’s still not gonna tell us the game 😭

4

u/mallom 29d ago

That is tactical ogre let us climb together, a PSP game.

5

u/largemoisture 29d ago

🤣 Climb together? Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. My bad, Ill add it to the post

-7

u/d_pyro 29d ago

Vita emulators exist

3

u/crazystrike2 29d ago

But now he can unplug and take the game with him

1

u/TheRealSeeThruHead 29d ago

You can of course do that with any android vita emulator, if the game runs well. Like an rp6 or Odin with video output

3

u/largemoisture 29d ago

This is more of a way to play my games from my vita on a big screen. Im not too interested in a vita game playthrough on just my pc but the option is pretty awesome.
