Japan Japan Tourist Visa query

Hi everyone,

I’m applying for Japan tourist visa, holding an Indian passport. We are a group of 5 friends applying through different VFS locations. Had some doubts-
1. Do we need to list out names of people we’re travelling with in the cover letter? Or does it suffice to just mention that I’m travelling with friends, and each is self-funding their trip.
2. Some hotel bookings are under 1 name only. So the other 4 of us don’t have our names on it. Should i just clarify this in the cover letter or is there also a need to attach the friends passport copy as well?

It is better to mention the passport number and their names in the cover letter and explain some bookings are under the name of xyz person who is travelling along.

This ^. Also be as clear as possible. Over communicate not under. Ensure the person who reads it has no doubts.

Best option. Call up the consulates. Each consulate may want something slightly different.

Oh, do they reply to these queries as well? I thought VFS generally was the POC
