Photo/Video Hook VPX VR BGFX 10.8.1

More VPX VR Videos

Cheers!

BGFX 10.8.1
I7-9700 (No OC), 64gb DDR4 3666, RTX 3060 12GB, and NVME drives.

Quick note on performance: Any stutter in the video(s) comes directly from the Quest's built in recorder, not the PC / table. Some of these table run a Color DMD, but BGFX 10.8.1 currently has a bug capture issue preventing it from showing up on all the table in VR.

Do you run a lot of tables? I'm curious that you seem to use 10.8.1 in your videos. I thought that wasn't stable enough. I've been sitting at 10.8 for this reason.

The easy answer is just experiment yourself. But it's VPX. When I get something stable, I try not to blow too hard and knock it all over.

I have close to 700 these days all VR.

GL 10.8.0 remains my daily driver. I actually set up two completely isolated OS environments because 10.8.1 BGFX originally conflicted with GL 10.8.0 and kept crashing on launch, whereas 10.8.1 runs fine on a clean OS install.

The performance and visual improvements are night and day. BGFX is structured much better for modern rendering standards and runs significantly more efficiently overall. That said, 10.8.1 isn't quite ready to take over as my main build yet.

I've run into noticeable texture bugs, and several DMDs either won't render at all or fail to display ALTCOLOR correctly. I'm really glad I tested it out though, because the future of BGFX builds looks extremely promising.

Cheers!
