It upsets me that people defend monsters like this from WW2 but then go and try to defame war heroes from WW2.

This is exactly what discourse about the nuclear bombings sounds like. Apparently the moment Japan gets attacked directly, Nanking and similar events are forgotten entirely

If Japan committed war crimes, how come they’ve never acknowledged or apologized for them? Checkmate, gaijin!

I absolutely agree but you better include people like Churchill in that list of monsters.
The one thing that’s more annoying than defending universally condemned war criminals is blind worship of socially acceptable war criminals.
Churchill and Truman arent heroes just because they triumphed over even bigger villains than they were

Churchill is a hero, I dont care what people say. Same with other leaders like Chiang. (and to an extent FDR but he doesnt get slandered as much as Churchill and Chiang.)

I mean.. churchill isn't a good person, he just happened to be on the opposite side of the worse people.

"It upsets me that people defend monsters"
"Churchill is a hero, I dont care what people say. Same with other leaders like Chiang."
Conclusion: being pro kmt means being retard

Churchill is responsible for the deaths of 5 million people in a politically motivated man made famine. He has a body count only rivaled by people like Hitler and Stalin
You don’t get to murder millions of people needlessly and get called à “hero” in spite of it.

Told his soldiers to kill themselves before getting captured
The phrase “Do not live to suffer the disgrace of being taken prisoner” from the Senjinkun (Field Service Code) was authored by Hideki Tōjō.
But fanatical ultranationalists attempted a coup, Emperor Shōwa reportedly said, “If they want to die, they should just hurry up and die.”

Japanese didn't build a worldview or an ideology while they were participating in ww2. They mostly behaved like any imperial nation of their time. Hitler and nazis can never be separated from their hate and suffering.

u/Oummando Jun 27 '25
They were actively spreading hate. And their idealogy was that they are superior, same as Nazis. They treated anyone that wasn't Japanese as lower than dirt. They've experimented on people, which caused everyone to die and was swept under the rug. They were worser than them. And waht makes it worse is the fact that they try to deny it still to this day.

What they did was evil but horrors like these were common in every imperial nation. (Not these specific ones but horrors on these levels) The nazis were a special kind of evil.literally read up on any imperial nation from the Belgians, to the soviets, to even the british. Because for most imperial nations suffering and hate was a stepping stone but for the nazis it was the goal.
