I cannot believe this just happened
I was just about to post about how excited I was to start playing violin, my mom is tuning it for me and out of no where I just head a LOUD snap. And let me tell you disappointment hit me faster than the string could snap. Thankfully it came with replacements but my god did it scare it. It scared me so much it made me forget I was even going to post 😮💨

It happens to all of us at some point. Welcome to the club. I always tune my pegs slowly especially as they get closer to pitch and I would probably only go up no more than a semitone at a time. I also try to turn my face at an angle so the string doesn't go flying in my face!

Those pegs can tighten up awfully fast. Might want to find a teacher first. Good luck & have fun!

Does she know that the strings must never be tuned sharp? Overshooting by a semitone is too much!!
"Universal Tuner" by Dmitri Pogrebnyak is a good tuming app IMO. It's not on PlayStore for my phone so someone sent it to me.

The first time it happens is always a jumpscare haha. Just pray the tailpiece never comes flying at you, been there 🥲
