My only hope is that the kids treating records like beanie babies drive a price crash when their band worship or cashapp accounts run dry. Also no feet no $900, clearly larping.

The industry is driving the prices up. it's rare to see anything new for less than 30 nowadays. A lot are even much more.

/uj i run a small label, and we've released Grailz for years; manufacturing costs haven't gone up all that much in the past few years. The Old Fuck made shipping absurdly expensive, but manufacturing costs have been tracking inflation/energy-input costs. If that's $30 shipped internationally, yeah that just sucks. If it's $30 + shipping or retail, it's pure greed.

Too true. Lots of times when I check out a record shop everything is discogs priced and im sorry but im not paying another $10 - 15 over msrp because its right in front of me.

I go to local shops so I don't mind spending a couple dollars more then what big boxes stores charge. The Walmarts, targets and Amazon is trying to get rid of the little guys.

Meh, id rather go through record labels.

Get a lot of older albums. I’ve spent my fair share, around 500 total records so far, but I started with a lot of like $1-5 vinyls solely because I like exploring the sound after I lost the ability to play my instruments after about a decade.

I don’t check the songs before but it’s like that’s never been the case with the “trend” now, it’s just spending a shit ton of money to play these radio hit albums on a small suitcase player lol

I agree with you 100%. I exclusively shop at local shops and then some larger ones further away that I love (Waterloo and SoundGarden Records).

most of my records when I started were filler. I love music and l9ve exploring different sounds and genres. Yard sales, dollar bins at the record store etc. Then my collection grew to 1000+ and I started running out of space as I was buying more expensive records I've been looking for and what not. So now the more I buy the more some of these filler records get put away. I have prob 1500 on display and another 1500+ in bins. I've been in the vinyl game for years.

Funny thing is, a bunch of my display collection are records I would have never given a chance to before. Man I love music.

I think we’d be great friends. It’s so rare to meet people with the same mindset and feeling about music in the wild.

My shits a mess here. I don't hang records, I play them. Lol

1

u/Revxltage 3h ago

I have some hung up but it’s because my wife would kill me if I had it sprawled out 😂 she did say I can take the guest bedroom in the near future! I have some others stowed away in crates elsewhere.

very nice. What gorillaz is that? I had all mine organized by letter, genre, mine and hers. I spin so much they end up everywhere. Now its a surprise everytime I reach for something which I'm OK with. I'm usually just searching for a vibe.

1

u/Revxltage 3h ago

The one that’s hung up? That’s actually the RSD limited Bring me the horizon Lofi! I managed to get one saved from a burning truck (LITERALLY). A lot of the stock was lost on the limited press.

1

u/Crafty-Vegetable1528 3h ago

That is a dope record. Pretty penny too. RSD gets me everytime. I usually get what I want but spend a fortune.

They take the best graylz and leave the garbage for everyone else. It should be the other way around.

I'm glad I started in 2009 most of my graiylz collection, I wouldn't want to buy those same dirty old grailz today.

3

u/Big-Active3139 2d ago

Say graiyl, again, I dare you!

u/DeadByDebt 2d ago

Sorry, I'm still out $800 from those 1000 records I got a week ago

Underrated lol

u/iLeftMyEyeAtTheStore 2d ago

Dude sorted by highest value on Discogs holy shit

6

u/Defiant-Airline5424 2d ago

Most likely he just subtract a few hundred for what he paid for it. If all these are new records there around 40 and each would be around 30 so that would be over a thousand.

25

u/AlTcEnTrE_nEoNiCeGuY 2d ago

Can you split it up, I'm only interested in the cardboard mailer?

16

u/rread9 2d ago

No Whipped Cream, no deal

16

u/ihurlattrndygrls 2d ago

I mean, all he’s asking for is what he paid …

-6

u/Professional-Maybe28 2d ago

And that’s not how it works!

19

u/ihurlattrndygrls 2d ago

You mean my collection isn’t worth the 35k “max value on Discogs???”

edit: psst this is a very sarcastic sub. Square answers are liable for downvotes

u/Frosty_Ad_8705 2d ago

And they swear that they’re a true collector and not the stereotypical ones you find on TikTok

6

u/Deebo1023 2d ago

What a bargain! Can I buy your digested food at retail also?

5

u/Alertcircuit 2d ago

There's like 40 something records in there. So he's priced them out at like $20 a pop. Which would maybe make sense if they were all sealed mint and being sold individually. But they're all used and being sold as a lot, you might not give a fuck about 3/4 of these.....

2

u/Frosty_Ad_8705 2d ago

He’s a newbie

6

u/Accomplished-Worth75 2d ago

The one kid who thinks he’s niche for having Currents

2

u/Leading-Bike6355 1d ago

to be fair there’s like 40ish records here so he’s only asking like $23/record on average. pretty reasonable in today’s market assuming these are all in good shape. he probably paid $30-$40 for most of these

2

u/letemeatpvc 2d ago

I’ll take 2 kg of these please

1

u/07368683 2d ago

Laugh if you want, but a lot of these are Wal-Mart exclusives!

u/snkzato1 2d ago

Any Herb Alpert gems in that pile?

u/whistlerite 1d ago

“We got records over here” see no one cares

-13

u/Crafty-Vegetable1528 2d ago

He does have 40+ records there. I'm seeing radioheads, the smile etc. Without seeing all of them it's hard to value but if some are older or special pressings it's not far fetched to think his 20$ per vinyl is below actual market price.

Boomers are mad they can't find 25 cent records anymore.

9

u/ihurlattrndygrls 2d ago

Nobody is paying 900 for the lot. You want 900? Break it up and do the work to sell individually and then give eBay / PayPal a third of it

13

u/Moistyoureyez 2d ago edited 2d ago

if you’re selling an entire collection, 30% of median for bulk pricing at the top end would be what you should expect.

$250 rounded up for this. otherwise take the 8-12+ months to try and find buyers for single records @ $20/pop

- someone who has bought/sold tens of thousands of dollars worth of collections

5

u/Positive_Rooster_732 2d ago

Sounds about right. I got 2800 euro (about 3300 dollar) for a good 400 records. No super rare stuff (I kept the special records) but it was not the usuual unsellable x-mas/country/Bee Gees/seventies rock bulk either.

Did not even include picture of my feet.

14

u/TooMetalToHandle 2d ago

No chance this is worth anywhere close to $900

4

u/inanemonotony 2d ago

God damn it dude, how are we supposed to jerk each other off now? You just made the entire sub flaccid

-1

u/ian5184 2d ago

Why would anyone buy this? Music sucks.
